Stoney Stanton Cottages

Stoney Cove national dive centre. Stoney Cove is a disused granite quarry. While quarrying took place the water had continually to be pumped away. However, after the workings ceased in 1958 the water was allowed to fill the massive hole left after 150 years of quarrying. It took 5 years to flood the area completely. Stoney Cove was first used for commercial dive training in the 1960's following the discovery of oil in the North Sea. It has been operating as a public dive training facility since 1978 and has been much improved in recent years. Numerous attractions have been sunk, including a Wessex helicopter, Nautilus sub and the steam powered tugboat Stanegarth.

"Just came back from our bank holiday weekend break with our two dogs, beautiful place. lots of places say they are dog friendly and arenâ€™t but this one definitely is. Enclosed garden, nice walks in the area and places to eat (loved the extra touch of a binder with local places near by to choose our walks) it is very spacious for a one bedroom, and the bed was out of this world comfortable!
