Sha Bear Cabin, on the YAAK RIVER~Quiet, Romantic Cabin Sleeps up to 4

  • The Sha Bear Retreat is nestled in the mountains along the Yaak River of the NW corner of Montana. From Libby, follow Hwy 2 West until you see the Yaak River Road [Hwy 508]. Go 9.2 miles then turn Right on 'SHABEAR WAY'. Follow the long driveway down and around [1/4 mile] until you pull up in front of a large Log Home sitting up on a slight hill.

    The cabin, sits at 2700’ elevation, aver. temp. during the spring through fall is a pleasant 70 degrees, with the hottest months of late July and August {averages about 85-97*} yielding to the coldest months on average is late Dec-Jan . It is truly a delight to splash around in the Yaak River or to hike in the spring and fall, or to snow shoe, snowmobile, or ski during the winter in the annual 7‘+ average snowfall..The Yaak and the Kootenai Rivers are filled with breathtaking views and an abundance of history.

    On the other hand, some simply enjoy the peace and serenity that only God and Mother Nature can bring.

    Go for a drive to Kalispell where you are at the West entrance to Glacier International Park. Go see the Bear Park! Go see the wonderful ancient glaciers in the park. Driving up “Going to the Sun Road”, you can stop and take pictures of park slopes and wildlife that lives there.

    Or you can drive/walk down river to the Yaak Falls just 2 miles away! The Kootenai Falls with a suspended Bridge is where the movie “A River Wild“ was filmed; starring Kevin Bacon and Meryl Streep, as well as a portion of Remnant w/DeCaprio . The movie “Always” was also filmed here with Holly Hunter and Richard Dreyfus at Bad Medicine Mt /Bull Lake. You never know whose path you will cross!!!

    You will never experience anything more peaceful than sitting under the stars at night, with a campfire watching Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) when the conditions are right in Aug-Sep.

    Relax on the Yaak River in back of our log home and watch the Golden and Bald Eagles fly above your head! You will never want to leave !

This was a perfect place for a romatic honeymoon! Loved the close proximity to wilderness to explore, and the abundance of wildlife in the yard (we've never been so close to deer that werent the least bit concerned about us). This is a place we would love to return to in the spring or summer months.

Gorgeous Cabin in the Woods!

This incredible hand made log cabin on a beautifully manicured property right off the Yaak river had everything we needed to be comfortable and relaxed. The owner is very attentive and friendly, we really enjoyed our first stay on the Yaak and at the Shabear cabin...

A little piece of Heaven

Our stay was perfect. The cabin had everything we needed. We enjoyed quiet afternoons on the porch watching the deer and squirrels play. The host was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas.

Cabin Stay

The cabin was beautiful and very private. The beds were comfortable. The bedding was good quality. We were able to walk a short distance to the river and saw a lot of deer. Wonderful stay!

Wonderful Stay!

Our time at the Sha Bear cabin was the most relaxing we ever had. Very peaceful, quiet, and the cabin was very clean and comfortable. Beautifully decorated with all the amenities. The day trips to Troy and Libby and also exploring the mountain roads was so much fun. We stayed 7 days and hope to return again. The owners are wonderful.

A Perfect Getaway!!

This place is absolutely amazing. If you’re looking for a getaway this is the place. The cabin is beautiful an has everything you would ever need. The views in the area are breathe taking. RB and his wife made our stay super simple and were there for anything we ever needed. This was a great place to stay in a location that’s like a little piece of heaven. I’m already looking forward to going back!!

We had the best time, especially the wildlife! Bucks, does, fawns, squirrels, rabbits! Deer and squirrels would feed from your hand! The cabin was so cozy and very well kept! Excellent!

The hosts are wonderful, kind, respectful, fun and very obliging. The cabin is well equipped and had more amenities than we would ever need or want. The solitude and peace we experienced were beyond our expectations. The furry friends were an added bonus. This place is a 10+. Thank you RB & Sha for creating this little piece of tranquility.

Serenity and convience

They went beyond our expectations, and the bed was very comfy. They were very kind and helpful as well! The cabin has plenty of wild life to see. Each day there were around 20 deer to watch. They also get pretty close to people! So many beautiful things to see in Montana, and if you're there is stay at this cabin! I recommend it 120% .

Perfect September Getaway

At the last moment, we booked a 3-day stay at ShaBear cabin. The cabin is very comfortable, especially for two people. The main floor bed was very comfortable and the bedding was top notch. We didn't sleep on the bed on the loft. The living space, while small, is very well planned. On demand hot water for showers was appreciated. The Keurig coffee machine was amazing. We loved the rockers on the front porch to have our morning coffee. RB was a perfect host to help ensure we had plenty of firewood for our evening fire. Everything was clean and ready for us. We would have stayed longer but work called us back home. Just to know, there is no actual closet space except for the loft area which has plenty of room. If you don't have a problem climbing the loft ladder...no worries. We would come back in a heartbeat!

Wonderful quiet location in the pines. The wildlife on the property was nice to wake up to in the morning. The accomodations are very nice and clean. Would definitely return to this property!

Great Cabin!

This is by far the cleanest VRBO property I have stayed in. RB and Sha were very helpful and gracious hosts. We were very impressed with the extensive amenities offered for guests from an ice maker, keurig, coffee pot, and basic pantry items. They even had various toiletries available should one need them. The location is peaceful and quiet with no cell reception (woohoo!). You can relax on the porch and watch the wildlife. RB and Sha are encyclopedias of information on the area and are always willing to ensure you have everything you need. Thank you so much for a great stay!
