After the collapse of the USSR, the town mostly became a refugee center for refugees from the nearby, war torn area of Abkhazia. In the last few years there have been some efforts to restore some of the old resort infrastructure.

Great little hut
Had a nice stay and the location is close to the caves and canyons in that area. It's a bit hard to find, so make sure you have the exact locations before going there. The huts are simple but nice

Beautiful small town, very nice for long walks, spa treatments and falling in love!

Bagrati Cathedral in Kutaisi, was completely destroyed by the Turkish in 1692. Re-Building started in 1951. The Cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage since 1994.
