It began with not being able to understand the clerk when I checked in. The room was furnished with a smelly chair and scuffed up furniture. The cold tile floors were dirty and the bathroom had a single bulb in a 3 bulb fixture. The towels and wash clothes were thin and worn out. The bathroom vanity was dirty, toilet bowl stained and the toilet seat lid fell off. The bed had a sheet and thin covering with no extra blanket for warmth. Only one bedside lamp worked. The refrigerator had water pooled in the bottom. There was no sound proofing in the walls or ceiling, so we heard the neighbors moving and talking. We stayed one night and forfeited the second nights reservation. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

I had a decent stay near Reelfoot Lake — definitely about a 2-star hotel. I appreciated that the room had tile floors instead of carpet, though they weren’t very clean or well-kept. The door barely locked, which was a bit concerning, and there were dogs barking throughout the night, making it hard to rest. That said, I was thankful to find a place at the last minute, and it served its purpose for a quick overnight stay.

If you just need a bare-bones no-frills room to spend a night before hunting at Reelfoot and your expectations are low, then this will probably do. Otherwise, keep in mind that there is no WiFi, no inside deadbolt on the room door, and the property is very dark at night. Also, although we asked for a non-smoking room, the room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. I would not come back.

Homegate Inn is an older property and there is some noticeable wear and tear on the exterior. My room appears to have been updated recently with new bedding and furniture. Had a nice tv with tons of channels. Heat and air worked very well. Plenty of hot water. Room was very clean and comfortable. Nice desk and chair, tv, large fridge with freezer, coffee maker, dresser, large closet. Bath was clean and nice. Check-in was fast and easy. Owner and staff were friendly and attentive. Reelfoot Lake is directly across the street and is a beautiful area. Dining, gas, shopping is closeby, though it is a small town. This was my second stay and I will stay again, I'm sure.

When we checked in I had to talk into an elderly mans phone to the manager to check in. The check in office was filthty. The room smelled of mothballs and dog poop. The towels were nasty dirty. This is definitely the worst place I have ever stayed. It was right across from the lake. I hate to give such a bad review, but this place was the worst I have ever stayed in.

Nice and quiet but there were bugs in the room the fridge didn't keep things cold and the A/C didn't keep the room cool. Great place if you're a fisherman.

Safety is a really big issue. Spiders in the room Had a man come to us wanting to sell pills. Then our last night a 13 year old girl was going to room to room bringing towels to room and it was like 9 o’clock. Her mom sitting outside of office drinking and smoking weed.You could not get extra towels unless you brought your old ones to the office. We will NEVER be back.
