This was a breeze! Communication was easy. The place looked even better in person than the pictures. We really enjoyed the fireplace and all the coffee options. It was a quick 5 minute drive to both local state parks, so this is the perfect place if you are looking to be close to nature. And check out was easy, which we appreciated!
The place was even better than pictured. Well stocked with many thoughtful extras that made for a very comfortable stay. Jason was great to communicate with during the entire process. Hope to be back in the future and our group will surely encourage other family members and friends to stay here.
Property was as pictured. Clean and very nice. The host has thought of everything you could need to make your stay just perfect. Well stocked beautiful cabin! We will be back!
The cabin was a perfect place for our family to gather. There were plenty of rooms and the property owners were great to work with! We will definitely stay here again!
The cabin is clean and has anything you need for cooking and relaxing with your family or friends. It’s close to Starved Rock park - the St. Louis Canyon trailhead is literally right across the street! Bathrooms had extras like makeup removal towelettes, flossers, & disposable hand towels. I would definitely rent again with a group
We enjoyed our short break…the house was clean, spacious, had everything required and is very well located for the State Parks. Jay was very helpful as the host.
My family and myself had a great time in this beautiful cabinA walk away from Great Bear lodge. Kids loved the indoor waterpark and huge arcade The cabin has everything we needed to have a perfect stay. We would definitely come back!!The arcade
This property was perfect! It was stocked so well even had baby gates on stairways which helped so much! It was clean, and the adult and kids loved it! Thank you for such a nice place to enjoy!
Cabin was amazing. My family and I enjoyed it. Beautiful weekend get away. Family and I went fishing, this cabin was amazing to relax after a long. Would recommend.
Host thought of everything! This is a beautiful property with all the amenities from coffee, creamer, filtered water, even pancake mix if you didnt want to leave the property for breakfast! Very thoughtfully planned for the family to enjoy a few nights away. We will be back!
This cabin/condo was the perfect spot for my siblings and cousin to gather for a family wedding. It was very comfortable and well equipped. Our host was very responsive whenever we had a question. Check in and check out procedures were simple and clear. And the view of the river was a nice bonus. I would not hesitate to book again if I am in the area.
Even with the abundance of photos that are posted on the listing, this cabin still offered pleasant surprises and whimsy. The bird watching that you can partake in from the rear deck…what?!! A group of turkeys even paid us a visit!!!!The cabin is so well appointed…we overshopped. You truly only need to bring the food that you want to eat. The coffee and tea selections had something for everyone and I was with 3 senior women who have very particular tastes! Each bedroom is so well laid out that you’ll have trouble choosing which one is most ideal. The primary bedroom and the larger bedroom both have deep soaking jacuzzis. The TV in front of the tub spaces…great touch. The streaming and cable was not difficult to operate. The stay was completely pleasant and the locals were very kind and helpful. You can walk to starved rock from here!
Our family - ages 5 through 78 - had so much fun at this cabin! The vibe was comfortable, attractive, and welcoming. The cabin had every supply we could have wanted and more. We cooked and served with ease and had so much space to do a variety of activities. Everyone loved the big bar-height table that sat 10! The hanging light above it created great atmosphere for games, crafts and meals. When the family was out playing at the water park or Starved Rock State park, those who stayed back enjoyed quiet, peace, and beauty by the fireside and with the companionship of our dogs. Corresponding with the owner was efficient, friendly, and helpful. We hope to come back next year!
We’ve stayed in several rental properties over the years (including 4 others in this same resort) and this property was one of the best! It was extremely clean and well-stocked and the hosts were easy to communicate with. We had no problems whatsoever, and would stay again and recommend it to anyone traveling to the area. It is located 5 minutes from Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Parks and about 10 minutes to Buffalo Rock State Park. There are cute and delicious dining options in town. The house is basically a townhouse built to look like a log cabin and tastefully decorated with a “cabin” theme throughout. There were four full bathrooms, so our large group never had to wait to use one. There were extra blankets, pillows, sheets, toiletries, paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap, etc. (basically everything you might run out of during your stay and would have to go out and buy!) which we really appreciated having. It is located in a resort, but not affiliated with it, so if you plan on going to the waterpark, you would need to pay extra. Our teens did head over there to buy ice cream, play mini-golf, and use the arcade. Overall, this is a perfect rental and I’m sure we will be back!

Weird experience
Overall, it was good. Booked last minute- took a chance on a listing with no reviews, only to have the listing removed from VRBO before we arrived. I thought we were going to be staying at a cabin, but it was actually a unit in a building that looks like a cabin that is part of a resort. Probably wouldn’t have picked it had I known that- couldn’t have a campfire. Also, I mildly panicked when I realized we were at a resort because we had our dog with. I panicked thinking I’d made a mistake when I filtered the listings and we weren’t actually supposed to have him there. Since the listing was taken down, I couldn’t even double check that way. Luckily I was able to find an email to confirm I had disclosed the dog. I’m the end, it was a huge “cabin” in a building of 4, kinda like a woodsy condo. It was very nice, in need of some repairs- which to me was acceptable for a place that allows dogs. Location was great right by Starved Rock. Probably wouldn’t rent again because if I want to rent a cabin, I want to be able to have a campfire. Mixed reviews.
Staying in the cabin was so nice I did not want to leave to do any activities. They also put in the extra touch of decorating the property for the Christmas season giving us a home away from home that fit us all!
Lots of attention to detail - wine fridge, 2 pak n plays for toddlers, great coffee setup, lots of comp toiletries, extra towels and extra blankets. We needed a big space and we got one that was well planned.
