The view of the lake was outstanding. Nadine at the front desk was wonderful, very helpful. Matteo in the bar/restaurant provided great service and was patient with our lack of Italian
Beautiful lakeside location. In old town with narrow paths and stairs, full of history.
12 min drive to Lugano, 30 min drive Megallio
and ferry to Bellagio.
Having stayed here some years ago we were a bit dissapointed. We stayed in a standard room for this one night stay, it was basic with few furnishings but it did have a lovely balcony. And the terrace overlooking the lake was wonderful, a great place to sit with a drink. As it was the end of the season dinner was served indoors. Service was good but too busy for the staff. Food too was only ok. Car parking under cover was chargable and car charging payable to.
We really liked this hotel. The people were very nice the restaurant was very good and it is in a beautiful location. If you are looking at staying in a peaceful area away from the chaos of Lugano this is it.
We had an amazing stay right on the water . Rooms are basic but bathrooms renovated . The balcony with water views and the grotto dining area are an extra bonus . Quaint hotel wrapped in history with modernity blended in . Breakfast was good albeit limited . Coffee was 👍👍👍. Great bar and sitting area .
Amazing location! Old world hotel. Enjoyed breakfast on the terrace.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
It was impossible to take a bad photo at this hotel. It’s has so much charm, large rooms and a gorgeous lake view from all guest areas. I would stay here again.
A very noisy stay. Very difficult to sleep. No AC made the room almost unbearable. Dinner was good, the filet was pricey and very tough though. View was excellent. The lake was quite green with algae unfortunately in the swimming area. Overall a 2 out of 5 for the rating. The staff was kind.
The Lake view from our comfortable room was absolutely amazing. The Hotel had a calm ambience and staff were friendly.
My husband enjoyed swimming in the lake but noted there was no life saving equipment around. Breakfast was ok but they ran out of things quickly. A suggestion would be to provide more basic information in the room. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would come back.
We stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed the location and hotel. The views from the room are absolutely stunning. The food for dinner was good, we didn’t like the menu and they made us something custom. A few things they could improve on - a smaller room key, coffee in the room, and a refrigerator in the room.
The grounds are so pretty! Loved the pizza at the bar across the street.
Lovely comfortable room in old world charm for family of four but no air conditioning. Our own minifan worked well.
Views from room of Lake Lugano were outstanding and sunset was magnificent. Their lakeside Italian restaurant and free breakfast was outstanding. Wish we could have stayed longer. Parked our car in their garage. Loved swimming off their private dock and lounging under the trees.
Wonderful and charming hotel by the lake, with an amazing history.
Our room had a private balcony with a view to the lake and courtyard. Breathtaking!
Service was excellent. Breakfast was simple but good, but if you want a real cappuccino, you have to pay and order at the bar, which we didn’t mind. Otherwise you have the automatic machine next to the breakfast buffet which we didn’t like.
There’s parking on the premises, however, be advised that it’s €15 per day. Worth it.
The hotel is in Valsolda, a short drive from Lugano. Would definitely stay at Stella D’ Italia again.

Liked: Cleanliness
Disliked: Amenities
1.Stunning Views – The scenery is undeniably spectacular. Whether from your room or the restaurant terrace, the views are postcard-perfect — definitely the highlight of the stay.
2. Restaurant Staff with a One-Way Attitude – Hospitality seems to be a foreign concept here. The restaurant staff behave as if they’re doing you a grand favor just by acknowledging your existence. Don’t bother asking for anything off-script — their service runs strictly on a one-way track: from them to you, on their terms, at their pace, and with minimal enthusiasm. Smiles? Not included.
3.No Room Amenities – The rooms are clean but stripped of comfort. No toiletries, no complimentary water, no kettle — just four walls and a bed. Think minimalist, but not in a trendy way.
