Ma’alaea Kai # 213 is a charming oceanfront condo located in the tranquil and picturesque town of Ma’alaea, Maui. The condo boasts a comfortable queen-sized bed in the bedroom and a cozy sofa sleeper in the living room, making it an ideal accommodation option for up to 4 guests. The full kitchen is fully equipped, with all the necessary appliances and utensils to prepare your favorite meals, and the private lanai offers a breathtaking view of the ocean, ideal for enjoying fine wining and dining.

This unit is furnished with ceiling fans and AC in the living room, complimentary internet, cable TV, and assigned free parking for one vehicle per unit. The resort boasts two acres of lush tropical landscaping, including an oceanfront pool, BBQ, picnic/play areas, and plenty of lawn chairs, making it an ideal spot to relax and spend quality time with loved ones. It offers an opportunity to meet and “talk story” with other guests. The spectacular beach in front of Ma'alaea Kai is home to green sea turtles basking on the beach or bobbing in the surf. During winter (November- April), one can see the activity of humpback whales off the shore as they return each year to birth their calves.

There are two interesting and scenic locations within walking distance of the resort: the harbor to the west and Sugar Beach to the east. The harbor offers a wide array of shops and restaurants, along with the Pacific Whale Foundation, the Maui Aquarium, and more. On the other hand, Sugar Beach provides two and a half miles of scenic shoreline, without crowds and buildings, offering a relaxing environment. Guests can stroll at the beach, watch green sea turtles, and gaze at endless lovely views.

One of the best things about this location is its central location, making it an ideal launching point for various activities. Within a 15 to 40-minute drive, guests can find themselves playing golf on world-class courses, dining in upscale restaurants, hiking the East Lahaina Pali Trailhead, visiting some of the world's best beaches, or indulging in other activities the area has to offer.

Great little condo

The reason you're thinking about booking this condo is surely the view from the lanai, and that alone makes this a great choice for where to stay on Maui. I was even lucky enough to spot a couple whales on my first day, just before they all packed up and left town. The condo is a bit dated, as others have noted, but that didn't affect my stay at all. It's wonderfully equipped in both the kitchen and beach supplies (towels, cooler with cooler blocks, chairs, etc). When the lanai door is open you can hear the waves, and there are sometimes sea turtles feeding at the rocks that line the property. It's not really a swimmable shore, but there is a beach just past a few other condos. Nice location, as close to central as you can get on Maui. One downside to note is the AC unit is quite far from the bedroom and is on a 6 hour timer. There were nights I woke up because I was too warm and had to reset the timer to get the AC back on. As expensive as Maui is, the condo was quite affordable, about the same as a very inexpensive hotels, and worlds better.

Can’t beat the view

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this unit! The location is amazing. Beautiful sunrises each morning from our lanai, lounging by the pool, barbecuing in the evening. The grounds are very well maintained and beautiful. The interior had everything we needed. It was a bit dated but functional. Christine the manager manager was awesome! She was super responsive and did everything she could to make our vacation as great as possible. We can’t wait to come back!

The property has a beautiful view. We were able to see whales splashing about. Sandy beaches are very close. We were escaping the rain from the rain forest we live in and the sunshine was awesome. The condo was clean and equipped with what we needed for an enjoyable stay.

Five days of amazing views!!!

We loved every minute of it! Views were fantastic from our balcony !!! The unit was as described, very clean and kept us very cool on some hot days. We found it to be extremely well stocked. We’ve been in other units that haven’t had a thing in comparison the grounds are lovely and it is just a small walk to the beach front. The communication with the property manager was very good very friendly. I can’t recommend this unit more highly.

We had a very nice stay at this property. The view was outstanding, we saw more whales than the whale tour we paid for! You also can see sea turtles swimming and crabs walking on rocks. We wished we had better weather, but it was an amazing experience for 1st Hawaiian trip!

View from the condo was very nice and the condo had adequate utensils, plates, paper towels, etc. as well as some extras such as books, maps, and beach chairs. The downside is the condo needs to be upgraded-the microwave is old, the burners on the stove are charred, and the fixtures in the bathroom are old. Additionally, we had to call the property manager because neither the bathroom sink, nor the tub would drain properly when taking a shower. To their credit, it was repaired the same day but how could this not be noticed or taken care of after previous guests? We also noticed some insects in the kitchen and bathroom and we were careful to not let any doors stay open. We would consider staying in the complex again, but not this unit.

This location was 10 minute drive to work, main reason for staying there. The location was perfect, the condo was great, the parking spot was the best as it was located at the and I never had a vehicle park beside me (bonus) as the parking spots are tight.

Central location ocean front property

Central location ocean front property. The location is great for those who want to travel to other places on the island. The actual neighborhood is very small in terms of what is available. Any snorkeling or boat trips are easy access as the harbor is right there. A few restaurants, an aquarium and a small shopping center are available. The side of the island is very dry and windy which can affect waves. The ocean front property gives a beautiful view but not immediate easy access to get into the ocean immediately in front. Great pool with ocean views and beautiful grounds. Condo is decent size for a small family or couple and it’s great to have the use of a full kitchen. The extras that were available i.e. beach chairs umbrellas and a cooler were super helpful and even extra towels.

Beautiful view on a clean, lovely property

This condo is on the second floor of a four story building, with a fabulous water view and very easy access to the stairs and elevator. It's not in the heart of a touristy neighborhood, so you get peace and quiet in exchange for having to drive to restaurants and stores. It's reasonably well appointed, clean if a bit dated, and overall a very pleasant base camp for exploring Maui.

Rent for the ocean view alone!

We had a good experience in unit 213. Furnishings are old and need upgrading. Had initial problem opening sliding door to balcony, but neighbor helped open it. No on-site manager is a negative especially if you check in on a weekend (rental management closed on weekends). The grounds and pool are very well maintained. Good mix of renters who are friendly and helpful. There are two outside gas grills that are well used (and cleaned daily).

We've stayed in many condos in Maui over the years and this one we felt was little light on the extras but clean with a nice view. The gentleman whom manages on site does a very good job and pays attention to the details of the grounds.

Dislikes: no TV in bedroom, no air conditioning in bedroom, bathtub drain clogged so did not drain while showering, need to replace toilet seat, it was peeling! bedroom mattress needs to be replaced, lumpy. for the price paid nightly, owner could afford to replace and fix some of these items.

This place is in a good location if you are driving around the island.

This place is in a good location if you are driving around the island. It’s not great if you want to go and hang out at the beach. Overall the place is fine. Decent size clean apartment with shared grill area. Was disappointed with a few items. The shower drained extremely slowly. The shower also had very terrible water pressure, so that just made things worse. Lastly the porch light didn’t work and with the sunset being at 530 it made hard to spend time outside.

Best view by far!

This was our first trip to Maui and we wanted something close to the beach. This place was fantastic. Gorgeous view, you can throw a rock into the ocean from the balcony! The bedroom gets a little warm, but their was a ceiling fan and extra fans to help keep you cool. The AC kept the majority of the condo cool and comfortable. It is in a great central place and not far from lots of adventures. We loved it here.

A perfect Maui getaway!

We had a wonderful stay at Maalea Kai. The location on the island is truly perfect. Wailea, Kihei, Kahului Airport and Lahaina were all within a 15-25 minute drive from the condo. We watched the ships come in and saw tons of whales from the lanai. Parking was great, with a reserved spot steps away from the elevator. Our snorkel excursion departed from the harbor, took about 3 minutes to walk there. Condo was decorated in island decor, very clean, spacious, and equipped with plenty of kitchenware, beach chairs, a few snorkel masks, boogie board and pool noodles. We would definitely stay here again!

Great Location for Whale Watching

This unit is just what a couple would love for complete Oceanfront view for whale watching. Perfect size for 2 people, very comfortable furnishings, with small kitchen and most everything a couple would need. We would definitely stay at this unit again.
