Space is in short supply in Whitby, so the olden cottages( strictly speaking terraced dwellings) , had to be fitted in as and where they could. So this is a terraced house down an alley, with three floors . So you are staying in history, albeit with all mod cons .
The friendship cottage is named after a sailing ship, whose name is kept in the local rowing club across the river. And two oars from a rowboat are used as the handrails on each flight!
It is ten minutes walk from anywhere, but parking is tricky.
