Haystack Mountain Area

Haystack Mountain Hike:
Haystack Mountain offers a moderate hiking trail with fabulous views of the surrounding Green Mountains. The trail gains 1,025 feet in 2.1 miles and includes flat sections along a level ridge-line. Winter hiking here means fewer crowds, easier walking on packed snow, and no pesky mosquitoes. Dogs are welcome, so bring your furry friends along!

Trailhead directions: Turn off Route 9 in Wilmington and head into the Chimney Hill neighborhood. Follow GPS to Upper Dam Road where you’ll find the trailhead.

Chimney Hill Wilderness Trails:
Chimney Hill has created a network of non-motorized wilderness trails for hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing.
Explore the serene winter landscape and enjoy the crisp mountain air. Don’t miss the outdoor ice skating rink with a warming hut—perfect for family fun (Weather Permitting).

Mount Snow

Mount Snow Ski Resort:
Located just minutes away from Chimney Hill, Mount Snow offers some of New England’s best downhill skiing and snowboarding. With 99 trails, it caters to beginners and experts alike. Enjoy the fast lifts, well-groomed slopes, and breathtaking views from the highest peak in southern Vermont.

Snowmobile Vermont Tours:
If you’re seeking an exhilarating snowmobiling adventure, head to Snowmobile Vermont. Their Mount Snow location offers two snowmobiling experiences through the Green Mountain National Forest. The Two-Hour Backcountry Tour takes you on an adventurous journey via Vermont State trail system. Please note that the meeting location has moved to 8570 VT9 Woodford, VT 05201, about 25 minutes southwest of the resort.
