“One thing marks down the property. Breakfast was not complete. We went for dinner at the White Hart and they had gluten free cereals. I had to ask for orange juice at breakfast. Also, we came back at 22:50 on a Friday night and asked for a beer. We were refused but another resident was served beer. There doesn’t seem to be consistency on food menus or services across the group pubs.”

“A very special place to stay as this was the family home of Florence Nightingale. We stayed in two bedrooms which were the rooms that she grew up in before she went to Crimea. This is not a hotel. It’s more of a guest house with a few of the rooms rented out on a nightly basis. The property is accessed through several gates so it’s on very private land. The views are amazing of the local countryside and there’s a very beautiful garden around the house and sheep in the fields a little further……

“We had a fantastic stay at The Family Tree. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was lovely, clean and quiet. And the breakfast was amazing! Just a few minutes’ drive from the Tramway Museum, or a lovely 40-minute walk along the canal to the Hurt Arms in Ambergate. In the end, we were sorry that we were only staying the one night; wish we could have stayed longer. We will absolutely stay here again the next time we’re in Derbyshire!”

“I had a lovely overnight stay in the wel presented Willow Lodge. The room was immaculate and had some lovely touches from the owners. The location is stunning, you will not be disappointed. Slightly disappointing for me was the price for the electric vehicle charging. But would not be put off booking again..”

“Lovely property in countryside attached to a very well maintained golf course. No bath robes, slippers or safe in the room which I would have expected for a hotel of this type and price point. Very clean and well looked after. Helpful, pleasant local staff.”

“The staff were very helpful and nice, the bed and bedding were decent, as was the breakfast. Unfortunately it's on the main Derby road (A6) in Milford which is a couple of miles away from Belper centre. The room was incredibly hot due to the recent weather (naturally) but the window in room 3 has no means of keeping it open as the window stay bracket has broken. A fan was provided but made little difference. The toilet seat is also broken.”

“Horrendous smell. Foul drains and the kitchen may have been frying in my room the smell was that strong. The walls are paper thin, if someone runs a tap the noise is piercing. Hotel is not manned most of the time. You are given an emergency number on a key ring which is not legible. I had to sleep with my nose covered because the smell was that bad. Staff were unhelpful on checkout. Expedia couldn’t get in touch with the hotel so fobbed me off. Never again”

“The room was lovely with a two seater sofa, spotlessly clean. Nice tea and coffee facilities. The breakfast was outstanding. Lots of choice really nice quality food and very nicely cooked. The evening meal that we had there was also very good. Nice play area for children. I would add the pub had air conditioning, fantastic in the hot weather enjoying a nice glass of wine. Lots of space in the pub, good layout with different rooms and in my opinion a big bonus plenty of parking. ……

“We have stayed at this hotel quite a few times and always have a pleasant stay. Hotel is spacious, has lovely garden settings to walk out, rooms are spacious and clean with comfortable beds, Staff always pleasent and helpful and we have never had any issues. Pool area and steam and sauna rooms are great, although can sometimes get quite busy. Not yet used the spa facilities or the huge golf area as our stays are normally eat, quick pool usage, breakfast and go. Highly recommend”
