The Marker is a great hotel. We were unsure of the area. In all the area was safe. The hotel staff were super friendly and helpful. My family and I took an Uber to pier 39 and walked back hitting a few of the tourist spots.

It was a lot closer to a sketchy neighborhood than I remember that location being. LOL not the hotel's fault but still it would be good to know. Turc, Eddy, Ellis between Polk and Taylor was sketchy af and if I were a single woman I'd have felt very unsafe. But at the same time, City Hall and Market St are super close and that is a very safe neighborhood.
The hotel was fine, clean sheets, and clean rooms but its glory days were certainly behind it - everything was a touch dingy. The radiator gurgled all night very loudly, for example. The price was great and staff was very pleasant.
