Legend of ancient Emperor Antoku, Kawauchi, Ikata-cho, Ehime After the battle of Genpei War (1180-85), the Taira clan was routed to the west along the Inland Sea from Kyoto with the young emperor Antoku. This small village has a legend of escaped Taira clan and lived in seclusion around there. According to the ancient folklore in the local history, the shrine is dedicated to the Emeror Antoku.
