Aït Benhaddou is an ighrem (fortified village in English) along the former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech in present-day Morocco. Most citizens attracted by the tourist trade live in more modern dwellings in a village on the other side of the river, although there are four families still living in the ancient village. Inside the walls of the ksar are half a dozen kasbahs, or merchants' houses. Ksar Aït Benhaddou is a great example of Moroccan earthen clay architecture and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. #Morocco #LifeatExpedia

The staff was amazing! Everyone went out of their way to be helpful and polite. My wife felt a little sick to her stomach and they went out of their way several times to prepare a special tea that helped so much. Very clean and cozy. Extra blankets were provided for cold winter night. Host was super friendly with excellent advice for siteseeing. Excellent value. Great location. Would come back again.
