We had a great week and would come back any time. The house is small, authentic, cosy and wonderfully secluded in the tranquillity of nature. The outdoor area is beautifully maintained and there are many places to relax. The sauna is a real asset, especially on cold, rainy days! We were charmed by the friendliness of the people in the area.
During our stay in March (it was cool and rained a lot) the lower two bedrooms and beds were unfortunately very damp. The existing electric dehumidifier improved the situation somewhat from night 4 onwards. Due to the lack of a flexible slatted frame, the lower beds were also very uncomfortable for us. The bed in the upper area, on the other hand, is really great! Dry and really very comfortable. We stayed in the house as two friends and slept in separate beds. As a couple sharing the upper bed, you won't have the problems mentioned.
We would like to give future guests the tip that they should never stay outside without the front door key, because the front door, which is also the patio door, can fall into the lock and there’s no way to open from the outside without the key. The problem was ultimately solved and we were very grateful, but in this situation we would have liked to have had a functioning telephone hotline from Rental Valley or a small note on this at checkin or close to the door.
Special thanks to Yvonne and Gerard who are lovely and very understanding. As said - we‘d love to come back and we recommend a stay at Casa dos Cantoneiros ❤️
