I booked thru Expedia several weeks ago for a 3 night stay, in a double room. It was myself (adult) and my adult brother traveling. When we arrived there was a line of people wanting to check in (10-12 groups) By ease drop we could tell something was wrong with check in with the people ahead of us. When it was our turn, we were told there was a Maintenance Issue and that we were being sent to a different hotel (Sonesta) for the one night. And to return the next day to check into The Viv, tho they could not guarantee the issue would be fixed. First, the Sonesta is less per night and rated at an 8 on expedia. (My search for hotel was 9 and above) No compensation for the lesser cost of room and lower hotel rating was being given (I asked) Second, the new hotel was a single queen (i booked a double) Third, they wanted me to take time out of my day, the next day, to check out of the sonesta, and come back to the Viv to chance that they had a room. I was on a SHORT WEEKEND VACAY. I realize things happen, but the hotel switch should have been equal or better. I mentioned this and was told ‘everything else is booked….we checked’. When in fact, this was not true. But long story; we moved hotels on our own to Marriott Convention center, 10/10 !! Worst part about Viv experience is Manager was weak in leadership leaving it to 2 front desk workers; and not confronting issue in person.
