Great location, lots of character, and lots of shortcomings
If you want character, it's great. Authentic, balcony over a stream, creaky floors.. It is very charming. Kitchen is fantastic with good appliances and all the bits you'll need. There were a few issues, for us, however:
1) This is not a VRBO rental. As issues arose VRBO clarified they are "the booking agent only". So once you click Reserve, it is between you and the company managing this property. It took time to get questions answered, was told they only communicate by WhatsApp, wanting copies of all of our passports... Bottom line, we got around all these issues, and they agreed to communicate via the VRBO app in the end, but it was challenging. You are not renting from VRBO, or a person, but a company.
2) The place was "clean" but dirty (perfectly vacuumed, but the couch was very stained), furniture was fine, but perfunctory (dining room chairs were weirdly lumpy), the bathroom is cleaned like a weekly cleaning service would provide, but quite musty, and the shower needs some professional treatment for the tile grout.
3) My group included a 2 year old and an 82 year old. The place didn't suit either. It's a lot of stairs, and the second half is a spiral missing a railing for the first 5 feet or so. The toilet is up 3 steps. The tub/shower is up a series of steps, around a corner. It was challenging for both.
A lovely place, but could use a more human touch: A more thorough cleaning, more transparency on the challenges, and better communication.
