Comfy Apt Fully Equipped, Parking, Gated, 4 blocks f/ Central Park!

This is a comfortable 1 bedroom apartment inside a gated complex with security control guard 24/7. It has 2 levels; in the first level, there is the living room with fire place. It has a sofa bed for 2 persons. Dining room, kitchen fully equipped with microwave and stove top, 15 ft refrigerator with two doors (not a mini bar fridge). The kitchen has all the utensils for cooking and serving food (if there is something you might need that is not part of the inventory, the administration will do all what is possible to get it for you). For laundry, there is a washer and dryer unit inside the apartment for your private use. There is also a private exterior patio with a colonial water fountain. In the second level, there is a full bathroom with tub and a shower head, so you can shower or take a bath in the tub. The bedroom has a queen size Serta brand bed. The flat tv is in the bedroom with cable tv and a celing fan. The bedroom area is loft style. There is unlimited wifi access.
The apartment complex has a car parking area inside the gate, very secure, and your rent includes 1 car park space. For drinking water, there is a water filter in the complex, for your unlimited use. For stays, renting one week or more, includes a cleaning service of the apartment, and change of bed linens and towels, once a week. If you need more cleaning service, is possible for a fee, just direct your needs to the administrator. He can help you with directions, recommendations, tours, massages in your unit, etc.

Overall, we were pleased with the El Marques property. The unit was beautiful and kept in great shape. The staff was wonderful and friendly, and the kitchen - which was a key element to us - had everything we needed. (I’ll say that we confirmed ahead of time that there would be a toaster, and there wasn’t, but the man at the gate got us one within a few minutes.)Having lived in Antigua for a few years, as well as visited both before and after, I know that many homes don’t have air conditioning. But usually they’re set up in a way that allows a lot of free air to flow.Because of the way the unit was positioned, there was decent airflow downstairs, with exposures in three directions. Upstairs, however, that was not the same. And since cold air sinks and hot air rises, the lower level was generally very comfortable and the bedroom (a loft style) was not. The owners had very effective fans both up and down, which helped. At bedtime, though, the bedroom fan would read 82F and we’d wake up to 78 or 77. Secondly, water pressure in Antigua is very hit and miss. My former home here had decent water pressure and Porta has amazing water pressure. This shower only has a rainhead and very low pressure, which made it especially difficult for my wife to get shampoo out of her long hair. The water also didn’t get very hot, which I’ll acknowledge here that I didn’t address with the management.Overall, for the value, it’s a good place to stay. That’s why it’s still 4 stars for us.

Great Antigua Location

We spent 12 nights here in Antigua and found it to be an excellent location. The staff are lovely and accommodating and the property was very clean. Having the washer/dryer on site was great. The kitchen is not adequately supplied for much cooking in house during a longer stay. The apartment furnishings are outdated and not very comfortable. The shower bathtub is a very awkward design for any older adult and the shower head doesn’t reliably stay in the on position despite help from the staff. Hot water was OK but never enough to actually run a bath.

I Will Rent This Again

I am a solo traveller, 65 years old. This unit was a nice, comfortable, safe and a convienent place to stay. I walked everywhere. The rental was very clean, the bed and pillows were comfortable. The towels were bright white and thick. The only less than positive things l will mention was that l thought l had a massage scheduled, but that never panned out. (My lower back gets sore after a lot of driving) And l would add a guest book as a number of other owners do. It gives you ideas of where to go and other tourists experiences. Mike

Second great stay

We had a comfortable stay in Antigua. The kitchen has plenty of utensils and tools to cook meals. The bedroom has extra blankets and pillows. We enjoyed the parking and security this location offers for no additional cost. See you again soon! Thank you!

Fantastic and safe

This property operates more like a hotel than an individual space. But in Antigua that worked great! There was always a doorman to let people in. The place had the necessary appliances needed for a longer stay. Everyone that worked there was helpful and the cleaning service did an outstanding job cleaning the place.

Five nights in Antigua

Antigua is a delightfully old colonial city and El Marques apartments is in a perfect location for exploring the city on foot. The apartment was clean and comfortable, the security was nice and we loved having purified drinking water available near the security guards. We had been on the road for almost two months and it was nice to be able forego restaurants and cafes and eat in. The kitchen was not stocked so we needed to buy all of the items we needed for cooking including salt and pepper. One last tip: It appears that Google Maps sometimes confuses Avenida Nord with Avenida Sur. Make sure that if you are using the app, that it takes you south.

Great secure space and location

David was highly communicative and responsive. We felt safe and secure in the gated property with 24 hour security. We enjoyed several meals at the porta hotel restaurant which was only a 5 min walk away. We highly recommend and would happily stay here again in future.

We loved our stay at the El Marques, stagf was very polite, and helpful. David the property manager was excellent, very accomodating. The place is close to the central park and my kid enjoyed the walks every afternoon. We stayed for 5 weeks and felt very safe. The location is fantastic. great view of the Volcano. We loved our 10-day stay in this quiet location only 4 short blocks from the Central Park and the Cathedral. It’s clean, secured and convenient. The on-site Manager was super helpful as well as the 24-hour friendly guards, Jose and Luis. We are looking forward to returning soon.

Wonderful experience

From check in to check out it was a great experience. David was very gracious and anything that wasn't working properly was fixed or replaced promptly. David always asked us if we needed anything, would have friendly conversations with us. Maribel the cleaner and handiwoman is also wonderful. She is thorough in her cleaning and takes care of the little things that need fixing or replacing. The grounds are well kept and clean, the securiy are attentive. There's hot water for showers and dishes amd washing machine inside, purified water from a dispenser near the security post. The best thing isnthat you don't get a separate electricity bill at the end of your stay which is all too common in Antigua. We stayed in this condonfor a month during christmas season and it was far enough away from the fireworks that our dog didn't have anxiety. It's walking distance to Central Park and a bunch of really delicious restaurants. I do suggest if going to the market to walk toward the market and wave down a tuktuk. There's no air conditioning, but it's not needed in Antigua, fans are fine. The only thing I didn't like was there is no green space.

Trip to Antigua

I always enjoy Antigua and its beautiful colonial architecture, friendly atmosphere, and great restaurants. This is my second stay at El Marques and love the place. This stay was for 18 days. Spacious and comfortable suites, friendly and helpful staff. 24/7 security on site. 5 blocks to the central square. Like most of Gautemala, the internet is not the best but as they say: "Guatever!". Already booked my next stay.

Absolutely gorgeous, great value

Absolutely will come back and thought about others to bring, amazing day trips to come home to beautiful place to stay, the men at the gate we friendly, helpful. The property is spotless, the plants and shrubs pruned to perfection, unit was immaculate. Usually places don’t live up to the pictures but this place surpassed the pictures.
