My family arrived at the property we had booked at 4 pm. The grounds were disheveled with, what appeared to be, a tear down house on them. The neighborhood was very nice.
Since the house appeared occupied, I knocked and was received by another renter who only spoke Spanish, a language that I am fluent in. The renter let me in and we discussed the situation.
The appearance of the interior of the house we had originally booked was far from the "luxurious" house advertised. In my opinion it had been misrepresented on the web site.
When I called the property manager he informed me that we had been relocated to another property in the same neighborhood.
This second property looked better from the outside however on the inside the kitchen/ eating area was non functional and the room in the garage was very cold, which were not conducive to having small children. The kitchen cabinets were few in number and all broken, some of which were missing doors. There were lots of beds but no storage area for clothing in the bedrooms and the
room with two queen size beds in the old attached garage was cold. The kitchen had minimal silverware (10 pieces in total of a variety) and ill equipped. There was not enough seating in the kitchen for the 11 of us and the kitchen was completely non- functional. The towels and hand towels were minimal in number and mismatched. In addition, by the end of the three hour time frame that we were at the property we found a cockroach and a spider!
One hour after arriving to the second property we called the property manager about the missing items (towels, silverware etc) but in the end even though they did bring more towels and silverware, the inadequate kitchen, the broken cabinets, the cold rooms, and lack of seating for 11 people convinced us that we should go to a hotel instead.
I called the property manager (around 8 pm) informing him of our decision to not stay at this property.
He was very reasonable, but the owner was not.
Despite the lack of initial willingness to give us our money back, we went to the hotel anyway as this house was inadequate as well. Eventually our money was returned to us.
After this bad experience my recommendation to other would be that they not rent a property without enough positive reviews and that they always look at the property on google map before renting. Good luck!
which in essence consists of an older home that is disheveled on the outside only to find
