  • Home of Freeman Walker, outstanding citizen of early Georgia. Born in Virginia in 1780, he came to Richmond County in his youth and studied law. Freeman Walker, in 1826, deeded 70 acres of land to the United States Government to be used as an arsenal-the site now of the Junior College of Augusta. He reserved one acre as a family burial ground, known as the Walker Cemetery. He was the father of Maj. Gen. W. H. T. Walker, CSA. Admitted to the bar in 1802, he followed a life of public service; City Attorney for three years and Mayor of Augusta 1817-19, being the first to hold the city´s chief executive office under the name of Mayor, and Brigade Inspector of Gen. Valentine Walker´s brigade in 1813. He represented Richmond County in both branches of the State Legislature and represented Georgia in the U. S. Senate. His speech on the Missouri Compromise attracted nation-wide attention. He died in 1827 and is buried in the Walker Cemetery.

It's very dated. The hallway outside our room was soaking wet. The parking lot is well lit, but not attractive. I didn't feel unsafe, but I could see how someone might? Front desk person wasn't unfriendly, but he wasn't welcoming either.

Missing handles on dresser. Refrigerator has not been washed in a long time. Roaches on the wall. Afraid of getting in the bed and having roaches on me. I would NOT recommend this hotel.

Nope, don't even think about it!

Wasn't even out of the car before a guest livjng there came begging for a ride to the Amtrak station (found out there is none) or to call an Uber or taxi at my expense. She got snippy when I refused. Didn't look too bad on the outside. My 13 year old made a joke about the nonpet policy and I guess we were instantly put on his watch list. He made sure we knew checkout was at 11 and every timd I was outside smoking he reminded me there was no smoking in the rooms. Later another clerk informed me there was a $250 cleaning charge for smoking in the rooms. Walked in and saw some small things that didn't bug me normally like a stain on the comforter, marks on the wall etc. We were running late to meet up with family we haven't seen in 10 years so didn't pay much more attention. When we got back later that night we were tired and exhausted. I then noticed the adjoining door was missing 3 inches at the bottom which explained the pot smoke coming from our room when we opened the door. Turned back my bed and was disgusted. Dirt, tears and pubic hair everywhere. Went to call the front desk and there was no cord. The light on the wall looked like burn marks around it. None of the outlets worked except where the fridge and microwave were. Thankfully my son's bed was fine except for the comforter. I slept in my clothes on top of the comforter and still felt dirty. No one was there to complain to when I was leaving. Maids were all on the 2nd floor smoking and goofing off. 0 stars
Dirt, tears and pubic hairs on my bed. Other bed had clean sheets.
I don't want to even think of what that stain is.

Roaches as soon as you walk into the room. On the bed and walls. We left. They wouldn’t refund our money. It was awful. We slept in the car at the hospital parking garage.

Cheap motel and lots of road noise

Room had a couple of bugs in it. Bed was clean. Room next door had a couple fighting all night long! TV remote had the back off of it. Clock was flashing and parts were also missing. Front desk gave us a wake-up call. Will not stay here again.

I was not pleased with the extra pay of 10 dollars after I paid online..Then they had roaches..I really wanted to make this visit pleasant because I had already paid my money and did'nt have no extra funds for another room nor to wait for cancellation...I wish I had gotten a better room...
