Designated as one of France's "Plus Beaux Villages," the picture-perfect village of Eguisheim is nestled in a sunny valley surrounded by the green rolling foothills of the Vosges Mountains. This enchanting medieval village was founded in 720 by the Count Eberhard. Just a short distance from Colmar, this typical Alsatian village has narrow cobblestone streets lined with brightly painted half-timbered houses that date from the 16th and 17th century. Ancient inscriptions can still be deciphered on the stone lintels of the houses. These historic houses feature balconies that are lovingly decorated with potted flowers. Because of its exquisite floral displays, the village has been rewarded with the "Grand Prix National du Fleurissement," France's most prestigious national floral award. A medieval village in the Alsace region of France, Eguisheim is well worth a visit. The outer rue encircles the main town square filled with many timbered houses. In the centre we where lucky to see the storks nesting on top of the church too.
Typical street scene inside the medieval walls of tiny Riquewihr. This adorable little town is a fun holiday season visit, and I imagine it's just as charming the rest of the year too. It is officially listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France, and has changed little since the 16th century.

We chose Le Pigalle on recommendation from our friend, and had a pleasant stay for the 3 nights we were in Paris. Very convenient location, if you like to shop, you can walk to Galeries Lafayette in 15 minutes. We chose the Pigalle 15 (standard room), the room itself is quite small since the bed took up a lot of space, but the bed was really comfy so it kind of made up for it. The rooms are clean and tidy.

Nice location and friendly staff there. The score were deducted as the room is not facilitated with a fridge and house keeper didn’t clean the room thoroughly, i.e. to remove the used ice bucket, to refill drinking water tank. House keeping service (such as to ask for a bottle of shower gel) is limited between 9am to 5pm. This hotel is more on self-service.
