Mixed feelings
We had mixed feelings about our stay. The hosts were very responsive and easy to communicate with, which was appreciated. However, there were several issues that detracted from the experience.
We were unable to use the pool until the fourth day due to a salt water imbalance from heavy rains, but the thick mildew on the pool’s sides suggested a lack of maintenance. On arrival, the power was off, and there was a water leak upstairs, also linked to the rain. Overall, the villa wasn’t as clean as expected, with rubbish around the garden and fussball table. The kitchen oven didn’t work, the small bedroom downstairs was poorly ventilated, and the TV wasn’t a smart TV with limited English channels. Additionally, the 6th bedroom is more of a walk-through room, which should be made clearer. There was no welcome pack or local information, which would have been helpful.
The pool is shaded for much of the day, which kept it cooler than we expected, and the whole group was badly affected by mosquito bites despite using plenty of repellent. On a positive note, once we cleaned up, we had a lot of fun with the zip line, fussball table, and garden swing. While we did enjoy some aspects, the villa could greatly benefit from more thorough maintenance and attention to detail.
