"A wonderful place to stay. Thoughtful and one of the nicest I've rented. Decorated well. Clean. Tasteful. Well supplied. The unit iself, totally 5-star plus The reason for 4 stars: The host lists the unit with Experian/hotels.com, but does not recognize their checkin procedure. Because I contacted them early, I avoided a fiasco. After several emails back and forth, time and aggravation, attempts to re-checkin with hotels.com, each saying "all good," the host finally said to check in through a specific app. Why this couldn't be conveyed in the listing, up front, or at least immediately upon my contact is beyond me. Instead she complained repeatedly about hotels.com. Then don't use them!. Numerous emails and an attempted phone call on my part (no answer) until I emailed my phone number. The host, thankfully, called me and figured out she could check me in. Communication was good after that. Also, I asked for sheets without scented fabric softener because I am chemically sensitive. She explained this could not be done. Okay. It;s difficult to separate out one set of sheets, pillowcases and towels. But it would have been considerate to ask the people who prepare the room to NOT plug in a scented diffuser in the living room or place a reed diffuser in the bathroom. While other people might enjoy those chemical aromas, even after putting them in a cupboard the smell detracted from what otherwise would have been a stellar experience."

Lakefront House w/ Pool & Private Beach

"The house was spacious and clean. The trail to the lake and beach was fun for all! The grandkids enjoyed the pool too. There were lots of discrepancies between the website posting and actual property. Posted 2 queen beds upstairs, but they had one queen bed and one full size bed. No smoke detector in one bedroom upstairs. Stated 11am check out time on website, but host told us 10am on her “info board” at the house. The kitchen needs more utensils (only had 10 forks) and a bigger table and more chairs needed to accommodate the number of people (15) that the listing states. The kids could not play in the backyard due to tall grass and lots of grass burs. There is a big dead tree in the front yard with a fallen limb. We shared all this with the host and VRBO customer service. Hopefully Carrie will take care of these issues soon. If attention is given to these issues, we would come again! It has magnificent views from back porch!!."

Lake Access - Private Pool - 2 Acres Retreat

8/10 Good

"All the rooms were nice and clean with great open space to move around. The bedding blankets in the bunk room were the best hands down, so soft and light. The host was quick to respond back within minutes and always kept us informed with cleaners stopping by. The hot tub and pool were a huge plus especially traveling with the kids. The pool waterfall never worked, but we also didnt try to find the switch. The foosball table was a huge hit with tons of play time at night between the kids and adults. The trail to the lake behind the house really needs to be cleaned up and cleared out a bit. Thorns were becoming overgrown and bushes were out of control to get by. The view to the lake is priceless and worth the 4 minute hike to get there. Back porch area is the best, at night you can hear the animals get close to the ledge where your chairs are sitting. Be careful though because there is a wasp nest in between the pillars and we had to move a few times as to not get stung. The sink clogged up a few times and the plunger on hand isn't the greatest, very flimsy and annoying to constantly readjust. No can opener available, I searched every drawer and cabinet, so be sure to bring your own or hopefully the host will add one to the kitchen. Plenty of dishes, pots and pans as well as seasoning. More silverware would be nice, aluminum foil for grill would also be a plus and storage containers or ziploc bags added. All in all, location was great and the house was perfect for our stay."
