"These apartments are brilliant if you are travelling with children, as we were. Lovely and spacious, with a dishwasher and coffee (ground) machine. Great oven and microwave, fridge freezer working well. Kitchen prep area was a good size, too. Bathroom was very clean and well finished, although the mirror wasn't lit. We couldn't get the living room TV to work, but we didn't contact the host, so this is not a complaint as I'm sure it would've been sorted. The TV in the bedroom was fine but we were unable to log out of someone else's Netflix. The balcony space and dining area were roomy enough for 5 of us.
The communal areas look a bit scary and unkempt but inside the apartment is completely different.
The lift is temperamental and didn't work on our last day.
There is ample, unallocated parking. It could be signposted a bit better, but the directions in the email are good.
There was a side view of the beach from our apartment, and some very loud seagulls! Also to note there is a children's play area outside with a squeaky swing - this may haunt your dreams if you've got the windows open! You may hear music from the square or nearby venues, but they all seemed to finish at a reasonable time.
Overall a pleasant stay which suited our family well and was great value for money."
"Clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay Staff very helpful. Hotel just needed a bit of an upgrade. In particular the dining chairs in the bar area"
"We found the stay very enjoyable. The hotel was in an excellent location for the local amenities and the beach. Parking was never a problem. There were plenty of places to eat and drink, both inside and al fresco. We particularly enjoyed the Thatchers cider. Everywhere was very clean and all the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. We would be very happy to recommend your hotel to anyone we know going to Westward Ho, and would like to return one day."
"We had a comfortable stay. The room was clean, comfortable, and well suited to our short stay.
This is a straightforward, no-frills property with the essential amenities, and it met our expectations. Breakfast was a highlight, with a good cookes English breakfast and other options available to order, providing a great start to the day.
We also had dinner and it was very good and reasonably priced.
As the property is an older building, some noise transfer is to be expected. Sound carries along the corridors, and the timber floors do creak in places. If you are a light sleeper, be mindful.
Overall, we felt the property offered good value for money."
"Very nice room with sea view, unfortunately very steep stairs to get there and as suffering mobility issues, not the best, although staff were not aware. Breakfast excellent, and evening meal for 7 highly commented on favourably, hot plates and food.
Unfortunately a bout of food poisoning occurred overnight, although the source cannot be confirmed but suspected.
Would recommend and stay again. Chair to be placed in room in September after renovations will be a bonus."
"Lovely safe comfortable B&B situated an 10 minute walk to the beach and a couple of good pubs. Easy to drive to other locations to explore, such as Arlington Court and Exmoor Zoo. The breakfast was really lovely with a selection of cooked, yoghurt, fruit and juice, enough to keep you going past lunch."
18th Century Cottage On Waterfront, Panoramic Sea Views, Courtyard Garden
10/10 Excellent
"Just a really lovely cottage, beautifully decorated inside and stunning views of the estuary from the garden. Curlew Cottage is also in such a good location, with walks towards Northam one way and 5 minutes to Appledore along colourful Irsha Street the other. We parked in Torridge Road car park the first night, which made for easy unloading of luggage and the rest of the week in the main Churchfields car park where there was always a space.A lovely summer's stay...."
