My family and parents stayed at Crazy Cabin over the holidays for almost two weeks. Since we were here in the winter for a while we did a lot of cooking and understood the heating components of the cabin as I read in other reviews. The kitchen amenities were below the 'basic' necessities, there wasn't a baking dish, cookie sheet, a proper can opener, and the pans were all scratched. If you're not cooking then you don't need to worry about these things. The electric fireplace was great and you barely need the heat on for the upstairs loft to be 30 degrees warmer than the middle living area. When it was 20* outside we left a window open for the upstairs guests to sleep. The basement/lower level doesn't have heat at all, just a space heater. This was okay for milder nights but when it snowed it was pretty chilly down there.
The location is great if you're utilizing the App ski; we only did ice skating with the kids and we could walk there in a few minutes from the house which was nice. The view of the balcony was perfect for the NYE fireworks. Speaking of the balcony, there were about 4 empty propane tanks we had to sift through before we found one to use on the outdoor fireplace.
The place was decently cleaned, we found an old sock and eye mask under the couch and behind a bedroom TV so it wasn't thoroughly cleaned. The home in general was clean. The location is great between Blowing Rock and Boone.
