The ship, with a crew of seven, was sailing from Flensburg, Germany to her homeport, Mariehamn, with only ballast on board. A snowstorm forced the ship to try to round north of Öland, to seek shelter in Kalmar, but the rounding attempt failed and the ship got stuck in the sand dunes below the water (Änggärdsudden) near the beach of Trollskogen.The crew abandoned ship and got to land in a lifeboat, walking through the forest of Trollskogen before reaching Grankullavik, where they were cared for a week. 「Hytten har alt det man behøver, selv en hårdtører.
Vi havde 3 overnatninger der, det var rigtig fint.
Det er et rigtig godt sted til vandreture i nærområdet. Ejeren var meget behjælpelig, og svarede med det samme hvis man havde spørgsmål.」

「Wir haben die Zeit auf Öland sehr genossen. Die Häuser sind klein, charmant, sauber und gemütlich. Mein Lieblingsplatz bleibt die Terrasse zwischen den Häusern - perfekt für den Morgenkaffee und Spiele mit den Kindern. Für 5 Personen war die Mini-Küche knapp, aber machbar - der zweite Kühlschrank im "Elternhaus" hat die Lage gut entspannt. Wir kommen gerne wieder!」
