This hotel was a good stop for us on our way home. The room was ok but not the cleanest. The air con system was the noisiest I’ve ever heard so we had to turn it off at night as no one could sleep, which was not ideal as there were no windows we could safely leave open. What was wonderful were the staff and meals in the pub! Highly highly highly recommend the steaks and garlic prawns, if you find yourself staying the night, make sure you grab a feed!

This friendly country pub has motel units at the rear. These units have covered parking, a comfortable bed and clean bathroom at a good price. It is ideally located as good driving distance between Brisbane and Mackay. The pub staff are friendly and excellent meals are available each evening. It will be our preferred choice to stay when driving up the Queensland Coast.

Value and roomy, quiet and clean

Good: Good price, quiet, big room, comfy queen bed, 2 bedside tables and lights, big bathroom, very clean, private verandah, friendly service at the bar, good bar prices. Would stay again. Bad: very low water pressure in shower, media box in front of tv obstructing view - tv needs to raised up a bit, remote didn’t work, no microwave or toaster. No Reception - had to go in and bother the busy but friendly bar staff on arrival or with any issues and no-one there on departure to let know any concerns either.

We stayed here for the night as we passed through on our travels. It is an old building, originally from the 1890s according to google. The room was clean and smelled good on entry. The beds were made and crisp clean sheets. All of the lights worked, there was coffee, tea, milk, a jug and refrigerator. The toilet had a piece broken on the lip but didn't affect operation. For an old place it was very well presented and had its charm. Better than a lot of newer places i have stayed. I wish the pool would have been opened, but not a big deal for a one night stay. For me the double bed was to soft and uncomfortable, the single beds, the kids said were to hard, but a mattress is personal preference so won't knock off points for that. The food was delicious and well priced for a good portion, i had the meat platter and fougt to get the last couple of bites down, but i did it. Will probably stop again sometime for a feed if we dont stay the night.

My husband and I have been staying overnight during our trips from Mackay to Brisbane and back for the past three years because it's close to half way though the 11 hour trip. The rooms are clean and convenient to a pub feed. I picked this accommodation firstly because they are pet friendly and we have a cockatoo who always travels with us. However during this this trip we checked in upon arrival and before I could park the car in front of our room, we were confronted by a man about taking our bird into our room. Usually when I book the room and tell the staff that we have a pet, they just say no worries and we have never have a problem. This time I hadn't mention our pet and we had a drama. Apparently we were put in a wrong room because of our pet. It has left a sour note and I don't think we will stay there again. 😒
