I am sorry to hear that your bedroom was not the standard you expected. We pride ourselves on keeping our traditional building in good maintenance order as much as we are able. Still, the high traffic in our 154 rooms does often mean waiting our turn for updating certain areas. For that reason, we have cleaning and maintenance staff on well into the evening and a manager on site 24hrs a day so they can address any immediate issues our guests report. Please be assured that I have noted your comments and will be ensuring they are addressed by the maintenance team as quickly as possible. We made sure to share this feedback with our employees to give them the recognition they deserve.The Old Ship has the lucky advantage of being able to accommodate a car park for our guests (due to the space in previous years being a stable for horses & reconfigured for cars in the 1920's). Unfortunately, we are unable to expand our carpark size as the configuration of our 464-year-old hotel wouldn't accommodate an expansion. Brighton is a very popular city, and this unfortunately does bring a higher volume of traffic on occasions. Please accept my apologies for this inconvenience though. The tendering process can be lengthy, and as such, we do not have a definite date of when we will be in a position to confirm a date for the work to begin.
