Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Fantastic house right on the beach. Plenty of room, nice pool, room to park 4 or 5 cars. Of note, you can only use the beach around low tide. Management responded quickly when we found we were missing some towels.

This is a great house

Duneside is a great property for a large family to enjoy peace and quiet on Jekyll. Its a spacious home with plenty of seating/gathering spaces indoors and out, the pool and sundeck are very nice, and the home is well appointed having been remodeled in the last few years.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: House was everything that it was advertised to be. Can’t say enough about two refrigerators and two ovens! A five bedrooms and baths were perfect. Note that there is a bunkbed set in both of the rooms that have a king size bed. We enjoyed the fire pit as well. Keep in mind that this north end of the island has no beach in high tide, and there are craters at the bottom of the steps filled with water in low tide due to the long-time wave activity. Although the pictures show a sand area west of the rock wall, it is part of the Protected dunes area and not for playing.The pool was fantastic and there were several floating devices available. Our Virginia grandkids enjoyed it tremendously!

"Duneside" but NO meaningful beach access

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was a very expensive rental and the service and description did not match the price. The challenges:1. There is a large concrete barrier between the house and the beach. The only way to get to the beach is over a boardwalk, and when you get to the end of the boardwalk, you have to jump down 2-3 feet into standing water. At high tide, there is NO beach access. At low tide. you can get to the beach, but again must wade through deep water to reach the beach. This makes it difficult to take any equipment or even beach chairs to the beach. Very disappointed. 2. I ordered beach chairs through the realtor's recommended service, but it was impossible to get them to the beach. I tried to return them, but missed the deadline by an hour and had to pay for them even though they were not used. 3. They charge over $400 extra to heat the pool (in November).4. The patio furniture was covered in a layer of dirt, a dead roach was found in one of the bedrooms, and the coffee maker is so old the wording on the buttons it rubbed off. Furniture had large stains and is dated. 5. Very little toilet paper was provided and one roll of paper towels. Had to buy hand soap for all the bathrooms and kitchen, extra toilet paper, extra paper towels, etc. We paid more than $5K for this rental for three nights -- the realtor could spend a few dollars stocking the place with minimum necessities. I would not recommend this property at the price we paid.

This trip was the 50th Anniversary of my family visiting Jekyll, our first year was in 1973! And this visit was one we will never forget!

The kitchen has been fully renovated and is well stocked. The layout of the house is smart and thoughtful. There are 4 ensuite bedrooms in the main section, all on the outside corners and a 5th bedroom with a separate entrance, great for a grandparent or as an office as we all work from home. The pool is heated and really well thought-out and there is a great firepit for cocktails or s'mores. The property is right on the beach and a bicycle ride to the golf and tennis facilities and the village and historic district. We spent the whole time getting around by bike.

The only thing we had trouble with was finding the 5th bedroom (it's separate from the house and can only be accessed through the carport). Other then that it was great. The house was great. We had a wonderful time with our entire family. Kitchen was well stocked. Only issue was beach access. There is a three foot drop filled with water after the last step. May have been as a result of recent hurricane Elsa.

Perfection!

This was our first family vacation to Jekyll (ages 3-90). Everyone had a blast and didn’t want to leave. Loved the layout of the house. Used the pool EVERYDAY! The little added extras like 2 refrigerators and an ice machine made all the difference. Stayed out on the porch and listened to the ocean. As others have stated, not the easiest access to the beach, but we made it work. Already booked for next summer!

The kitchen includes high end appliances and cookware. It is well stocked with everything needed for a large crowd. The living room/dining spaces are very spacious and a large crowd does not feel cramped at all. Bedrooms allow for privacy with each having it's own bathroom. The pool space is beautiful and a wonderful place to relax and enjoy being the group. During our stay we had a maintenance issue with the bathroom that was addressed and corrected promptly. Of note, the house has partial ocean views and beach access is limited in that the tide comes all the way to the access point unless it is very low tide. Overall, this is a great house to vacation.

Amazing location and home

This was one of the best rental properties we have ever stayed at. We will def be back. Home is constructed perfectly for numerous families to stay in a house and not have to go anywhere else but just enjoy the spot. It has everything for adults to teenagers to small children. You don’t even have to leave the property if you don’t want to. They have everything in the house you could need to grill or cook! I highly recommended it!

Kitchen and entire house was well outfitted for our crew of eleven. Only issue was beach access. There is a three foot drop at the last step filled with water even at high tide.
