Gorgeous Setting

Lovely home with beautiful views of ocean - pool clean and relaxing - to get to the beach from the house, however, there are 162 steps down to the gate - lots of bird watching too. the housekeeper is awesome and keeps everything fixed and cleaned every day - we loved our visit

Spectacular stay!!

Everything about our stay was perfect, the Villa is even more beautiful in person and you cannot beat the sunsets. From the moment we opened the door we were all in awe at how beautiful and clean the place was. Yesenia, comes daily and make sure that we have everything we need and she leaves the place sparkling clean. Our host was very responsive and accommodating. I highly recommend Sunset Villa. You will have a great time with the local beaches, and all the great restaurants right in the area.

Gorgeous property and views!

We had 4 couples stay at Sunset Villa. We could not have been more pleased! The views are incredible and the sunsets can't be beat. As other reviewers have said, we had plenty of room to be together but also plenty of privacy. Even the rooms near the kitchen were quiet when others were in the kitchen. Fantastic property, easy communication with the owner and the housekeeper. Her translation app made it easy to "talk" with her. We couldn't have asked for a better place!

This is the spot

From the moment we walked in, we knew this was as good as advertised. Spacious, luxurious, comfortable and beautiful. We put the accommodations to good use with 5 couples in our group. The pool was lovely and the beach was clean and relatively private. Clear instructions for using the oven would be my suggestion, because we could not get it to work. Lots to do within walking distance. We would certainly stay here again.

Friends trip

A group of 10 adults stayed here this past week and what an amazing stay we had!! The house and location were absolutely gorgeous. The house was stocked with everything you could ask for. It was nice that everyone had their own space and could be part of the action or not. Loved the area it was a little busier than what we are used to but it was fun! Rent golf carts they come in very handy! We will be back!

Wonderful stay at Sunset Villa 4/2024

My family, 10 of us stayed at the lovely place for 10 nights. It exceeded all of our expectations. The place was as advertised. Many restaurants within a mile. Our only disappointment was how expensive everything was, but that is no reflection on the villa. The housekeeper Yesenia was great and a plus to the experience. She speaks very little English, but we were able to communicate with a translation app. My wife and I have many destinations on our bucket list, but if we were to return to Costa Rica we would stay here again.

Beautiful views

Lovely home with incredible views! Plenty of rooms for large group, nice infinity edge pool. Yersinia was wonderful and kept everything very clean. The stairs to the beach access are not for the faint of heart, though. I counted >160 steps, some very steep. We found it easier to rent golfcarts and drive (<5 mins) to the beach. If you do that I highly recommend renting beach setup from Alvaro at the Beach Concierge to make a super low stress beach day.

Tucked Away in Paradise

This house has a wonderful layout with all of us having our rooms and bathrooms so conveniently set apart. The kitchen is really open and you can enjoy meals inside or outside. The views of the sunset are just gorgeous! We had support and all questions answered during our stay, including the best restaurants and sight seeing adventure recommendations. The entire stay brought such comfort and relaxation without having to worry about anything including clean towels for the pool ever day. The pool is very clean and provides a gorgeous view and walking down to an uncrowded beach - feels like you are in a private paradise! We enjoyed and outdoor evening in using the grill provided.

Great Property - Great Views - Great Location

The beach is accessible via a staircase equipped with a door that can be locked at night. It can be a bit of a long haul up and down the stairs so be sure you take everything you will want down to the beach the first time. Once on the beach, it’s a short walk down the beach to Margaritaville (<50 meters) and Coco Loco (about 200 meters). It’s about a 5 minute walk to a small grocery store and the Marina (which has a new mall with shops and restaurants). Note: The walk back from the store is up steep hill. For most other places, you’ll need to Uber, rent a car or rent a golf cart.

Amazing Place

The property was more than we expected. The views, rooms, pool and privacy make this property worth it. There are air conditioners in all the rooms. The property has a main house with two bedrooms, casita by the pool, a room with a bathroom above the garage, a future room with a bathroom above the other garage, a guess house with separate kitchen and living room. There is a laundry room as well. It does have private beach access but there are 186 step. This made it difficult for our parents to walk up. However, the beach is a two minute drive. The internet service was a little slow without 2.4 or 5 GHz modem/router. Not a big deal just made it difficult when two or three people were trying to plan daily activities on the internet. Finding the place wasn't to hard. You will cross over a bridge then as you past Grill and Chill take the first right up the hill. Then look for the wall with an arch entry as you drive up the hill on the left. probably 0.2 of a mile after you turned right. If you google map Margaritaville the property is north of it right next door to Villa la Sata. I would recommend this place to anyone and would stay at this house again.

Location and View!

The Villa is really something, and I think all 8 of us would agree to return! Like anything, there are pros and cons, but all in all, Playa Flamingo Sunset Villa is really special. Pros: Location. Playa Flamingo is a great little beach town in Costa Rica close to a lot of great restaurants (Coco Loco, Surf Box, Marie's) and beaches. The Master Bedroom has an amazing view of the water. The ‘main house’ (with kitchen, living area, library, bathroom, two bedrooms (both with bathrooms) was so comfortable and also has an amazing view overlooking the pool and ocean. The infinity pool itself was also such a hit. The fourth and fifth bedrooms are each in a separate ‘building’, with one being over the garage (also with bathroom) and the other in a separate standalone apartment (with bathroom and kitchenette). So, each couple had a lot of privacy, but the layout could also be a ‘con’, I suppose, if you have a lot of young kids in your group. The outside pool area is well equipped with at least 8 comfy lounge chairs and outdoor chairs and couch by an outdoor TV. The weather was awesome, as long as you like it HOT, which most of us in the group did. Thankfully, the pool is only a few steps away at the Villa and such a welcome relief. Cons: And, these are first world ‘cons’ obviously, because it’s really hard to complain when you are on such a great property, in such a great location, so take these ‘cons’ with a grain of salt. It’s not easy to find the Villa. We were on the phone with Carlos (who is great and very helpful and always a phone call away) a few times not knowing just which street would get us there. No big deal, but there should be a way to better track the address (the address to the Villa will rarely get you to the Villa, even according to the owner). Also, because there are so many different rooms in the Villa, some of the less used rooms (library, bedroom over the garage) were a bit dusty. Also, there are 187 steps (but who’s counting??) to the beach from the Villa, so if you have any mobility problems, and know you want to use the beach, take this into consideration before booking. It didn’t discourage us from using the beach at all, and was a fun way to get some exercise. Also, you won’t find turquoise water and white sand in this area. The sand is a bit darker (black sand on some beaches, like in Las Catalinas, which is really cool) and so the water doesn’t take on that turquoise color.

Spectacular! Our family of 6 had an amazing time. The house was perfect. Pictures don’t do it justice. Incredible views and well-equipped kitchen. Pool is stunning. Beach access was great and the trek down from the house well worth it. Premier suite was amazing. Location is perfect. Rented golf carts and took them everywhere. Yessina was helpful and lovely. We will definitely be back! Thanks for an amazing stay!

The moment we opened the front door we couldn’t stop smiling! The pictures on the website don’t begin to capture its beauty and coziness. We were celebrating our 50 th anniversary with ages ranging from 18 to 79. We all had our private spaces and wonderful places to gather as a family. We rented a car and had no trouble navigating. We we going to rent a golf cart but discovered you have to be 21 to drive them. Our favorite restaurant was Oceana which is at the new marina. We actually went twice. The taco shop doesn’t look like much but was delicious and we brought our dinner home to the best view in the world. If you want an all day adventure we can’t recommend Pure Nature highly enough! Ou guide Livingston and his driver Orlando went above and beyond

Incredible view and atmosphere

The property was absolutely incredible. The view was unmatched and we spent the majority of our stay on the outside deck and pool enjoying the landscape. The homeowner was very helpful and communicative and the house manager was as well. The only thing that we struggled with was the heat. The house is hard to cool down but after a couple of days it was comfortable.

Fantastic location with epic views

We loved our stay at the Sunset Villa! We had five kids ranging from 7 to 12 and four adult adults. The pool was absolutely perfect. The views were stunning. The location was wonderful close to the grocery store and amigos. We’re so glad we rented the golf cart to get to and from the beach and to the store as the walks are steep. Flamingo Beach is the best of all worlds with a low-key vibe. Great dinner options within a 10 minute golf cart ride. We loved exploring the neighboring beaches as well. The house itself has three spacious bedrooms in the main house one spacious bedroom in the Casita and a master suite next to the pool. Yessina was fantastic throughout. We were a messy family having 5 kids and she made it still feel clean and like vacation!

Amazing time in Playa Flamingo

Sunset Villa was perfect for our group of 9. The home was clean and well stocked for our needs. We spent a lot of time in the beautiful infinity pool and looking out at the beautiful view of Flamingo. We loved having the beach steps to access the beach. We also rented golf carts to go to town, which was so conveniently close to the villa. Yeesnia the housekeeper was super responsive and also respectful of our privacy. 10/10 recommend this villa!

Excellent stay in Playa Flamingo

There were 10 friends who travel together yearly. Plenty of space and amazing sunsets in the pool. Yersinia was very quick to respond as was the owner. Golf cart rental is a must. All areas easily accessible by cart. Two negatives. As others have said the steps down to the beach are a hike going down and back up. You can always golf cart down to the more public beach. The other is that when we arrived on Sunday the pool was green with algae. People came out and worked on it that night and the next morning. Cleared up after a couple days but this was not a great look. Everything else was very very good.

New Years in Playa Flamingo

I took my extended family, all ten of use to Playa Flamingo for a seven day trip over the new year. Everything regarding the home was exactly as described in the listing. One major concern was the safety of the three and five year olds with us, stairs to the beach, railing and other possible hazards. this ended being a non-issue. Communication with the owner was great along with his recommendations. We did have a car and golf cart which gave us the ability to do many day trips. We had a great stay and would love to come back some day.

Beautiful location and layout of property. Easy access to the beach with some tide pools. The infinity pool on the property was a big hit. We felt very safe and secure in this location. Comfortable beds and air conditioning. Very walkable to town with shops and restaurants.
