"Stay at Casa Kaan was good, I was expecting a little more."

"We had an amazing experience taking the "Tren Maya" and staying at the "Mundo Maya Hotel, Calakmul". The train was comfortable and efficient, the staff was so kind and helpful. The transport from the train station to the hotel was also very good (at an additional cost). The hotel building is a little plain from the outside but the minute you step inside the open air lobby you feel the magic of the jungle. The tropical modern decor catches the cool breezes and comfortable seating abounds. The hotel is beautiful, the staff is attentive, knowledgable and personable. The rooms are well appointed, spacious and comfortable.The menu had a reasonable selection and the food was surprisingly good. There is room for minor improvement. The English translation of the menu is full of errors.There should be proper pictures of the amenities (pool, shop, gym) in the elevator not little cards taped below the buttons. The hotel shop had a poor selection of merchandise which was badly displayed. TheTV should have a channel dedicated to info about the property including room service options, tours and even info regarding other Mundo Maya properties. But....the beauty of the property and the warmth of the staff more than made up for any minor inconvenience."

"We needed some ice so the staff brought us an ice cube tray from their personal fridge. Everone was very friendly and helpful.. We would stay there again and have recommended the hotel to others. Just know that the hot water in one of the rooms did not last long enough for a complete shower and there were barking dogs alllllll night, so pack ear plugs."
