    Collingwood is a quiet neighbourhood in the northwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta — fewer than 10 minutes drive from downtown. It is located immediately south of beautiful Nose Hill Park and west from 14th Street (follow 14th south for access to trendy Kensington, downtown, and the popular shops and restaurants of Stephen Ave or 17th Ave).



    Also to the south (walking distance) it’s bordered by Confederation Park, Canmore Park and the Confederation Park golf course (transforms into miles of cross country ski trails in the winter).



    It’s 6 minutes to McMahon Stadium (home of the CFL’s Calgary Stampeders) and University of Calgary!



    Getting Around:

    Car, bus, walk, short Uber to train stations and downtown.

Very clean space, fireplace was a nice addition. Host was great, dog friendly stay but not really anywhere besides the ally for your dog to relieve themselves.

The unit was clean and adequate. I appreciated the host’s rapid replies and responsiveness to my needs. He was personable and went out of his way to provide additional information that I requested.

The place is fine for a basement suite. I was surprised by the 10 out of 10 ratings, as I wouldn’t put it in that category. I’ll provide a more detailed review to help others. A few things to consider: the unit is off an alley. It was a tight turn for our large pickup truck to park on the pad. And there are a few steep uneven stairs to get down to the unit.Pros: outdoor fireplace, quiet, pretty clean, the bathroom has two sinks and a nice lit mirror, and it’s quite spacious for a bachelor suite. We loved the cute security crayon drawing of the layout. Cons: The bottled water is part of a paid mini bar. The water from the bathroom faucets spills over the lip of the sinks. The bed is super soft, and towels could use updating. The place could use a good dusting. The air conditioner is just a small unit in the window. And you need to leave the blinds open for it to be effective. We had a couple of hot days where we would’ve preferred stronger air-conditioning.Fortunately, it cooled off one evening and we were able to use the chimney fire pit outside. We just used a couple of pieces of wood (you pay for more) and sat there for a short time, but it was lovely. Not quite as pictured as the patio hasn’t been weeded or swept. While dog friendly, there’s nowhere but the alley for dogs to do their business. And make sure to bring your own dog bowls, (most people probably do, but some places provide them)We didn’t cook or use the fridge, so no feedback on that.
