As we wandered around its beautifully presented interior of light-filled rooms, with the sounds of the sea wafting in through open patio doors and the nearby ocean sparkling invitingly beyond the mature trees and colourful foliage of its pretty garden, we were in no doubt that this delightful coastal home would soon become a firm favourite with guests.
In one of the most attractive seaside positions we have seen on this picturesque stretch of Galicia’s southern coast, Casa Agarimo is only 240m from the golden sands of Santa Marta. So close is the beach that it took us less than three minutes to stroll down the lane at the bottom of the garden onto the sandy shore. Just beyond, the bay of Limens curves around the refreshingly unspoilt shoreline in another sweep of soft sand. Both look out across the sheltered waters of the Ría de Vigo to the Cies Islands, one of the region’s most prized natural treasures and home to what is frequently voted as one of the best beaches in Europe.
Aptly named ‘Agarimo’, a local word used to evoke the sense of a cherished and inviting home, this is indeed a property that immediately welcomes guests to sit back and feel at ease. Throughout its airy interior a décor of soft maritime tones perfectly complements the coastal surroundings, and from its south facing rooms wide windows perfectly frame the sea views. Outside within the attractive grounds, lawns and terraces provide an enticing setting for days at home by the pool whilst the thoughtful provision of table tennis adds further to the appeal.
With the beach just down the lane and a local restaurant only 450m away, guests may not feel the need to venture far. It is, however, just a 3km drive from the house to the waterside town of Cangas which offers all amenities as well as frequent ferry crossings over the water to Vigo.
The beds in the twin bedroom can be prepared as a double if preferred. Please advise at time of booking. Larger than average gaps in the stair bannister mean that young children will need supervision.
