The lodge has potential.

The owner Ivan is very friendly and is involved in making guests feel comfortable. The unit was not in such a clean condition upon arrival (carpet, curtains and flies)and the cleaning policy states that no cleaning takes place during the weekend and the towels only get changed after 3 days. The lodge is quite secluded and peaceful, with the closest beach being a 6km drive away. There are 2 swimming pools (albeit small) on site that you can also enjoy should you not wish to drive to the beach.

No maid service or tea and coffee replenishment. No hot water and water pressure terrible. Reasonably priced at R800 per night but compared to other places not good value. Breakfast not included and no facility to self cater.

Great potential close to Gordon's Bay but ...

The venue is just off N2 which is convenient yet rather noisy due to road traffic. Staff and setting were pleasant yet our prefab room was an all in one bed, kitchenette counter, shower & loo which was a little awkward. Neighbouring room is divided by single panneled wall leaving little privacy with movement and conversation all heard. Venue is great with a lovely feel and super pool. Not what we were expecting though. Will not repeat.

Great surroundings, great value, highly recommende

A stone’s throw from picturesque Gordon’s Bay, this is a wonderful place to use as a halfway house en route to the Garden Route, or to stay for a few days. We stayed in a two-bedroom lodge, which had its own kitchen. Fireplaces inside and outside created a lovely ambience. It felt like we were out in nature, given the lovely surroundings. Michelle was the perfect host, giving information and advice on everything from food to family activities. Chelaya vomes HIGHLY recommended.

Accommodation was lovely but very difficult to find. Garmin took us down a dead end road. Google maps and Apple took us to Pick"n Pay delivery parking. This needs to be addressed. Also only one sign on gravel road intersection - no signage off the N2 and no visibility. Took nearly 2 hours to find.

Relax and enjoy at Chelaya

Apart from minor invasion of ants (quickly addressed...and this is Africa after all...insects are everywhere!), we very much enjoyed the days we stayed here. Michelle kindly gave us a large room with en suite in the big house, and we loved chilling by the small pool in the mornings. Would have no reservations about staying there again. Mosquitoes were a menace at night too...so would prefer provision option of a mossie net over the bed...other than that, excellent.

Beautiful country lodge close enough to Cape Town

Great location for exploring the wine region and garden route. Easy to get to from the airport. Also good base for exploring Cape Town, Muizenberg beach etc. Lovely location with beautiful gardens, friendly animals and helpful staff. Thanks Michelle and Raymond
