We absolutely loved our stay at the Thornwald Mansion. It is nicely secluded in a park yet you are within walking distance to Dickinson College and a shopping center. The property has outstanding amenities and the food selections at breakfast were delicious. The service exceeded our expectations. The room and the bed were comfortable and very quiet. This mansion went under fire and then was rebuilt by the current owner from the ground up paying attention to detail and preserving its history. The grounds are gorgeous. Great location surrounded by trees and park. It was the most relaxing vacation we had had in a long time. We will definitely be back.

There is so much history and this is a beautiful property! The rooms are so comfortable and the hosts are so friendly! We come here every year and this is our second year. We will definitely be back!

Super friendly innkeepers!

Beautiful historic mansion with period furnishings and excellent attention to detail! Innkeeper was very hospitable and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious! Well kept grounds and pleasant scenery. Close to downtown dining. Will definately will be staying here again!

We were in town for the Ford Nationals. So much history in this home! Luxurious accommodations! The hosts were incredible and very flexible with our time frame. We had to be out early each morning and she made our breakfast to go. My husband and I will definitely be back next year! Thank you Rkia for your investment in this home. Very cool mansion with eclectic decor. Bed was comfy! Great location to visit our daughter at Dickinson. Owners were kind and thoughtful during our stay. Full breakfast was served. Learned a little Carlisle history during our stay!

Make sure your air conditioner works

Make sure that the air conditioning works in your room. Ours didn’t and we had a sleepless night. We could have been moved to another room, but that was not offered to us even though one was available.

Customer service was excellent. Owner of this property was an excellent host, very friendly. Property has history and is in the middle of a park. Unique compared to going to a typical hotel.

The staff was especially accommodating. I requested coffee @ 5 a.m. since I am an early riser. It was delivered promptly and it was of high quality. Tea in my room was served upon my return. Breakfasts were excellent. I stayed by myself and it was exactly the respite I needed.

This is really a Mansion. Good space and lots of space in the yard to walk around. Lots of history there too. Breakfast was sumptuous. I will recommend this place to people and will love to stay here for a longer period not just 1 night.

A treasure in Carlisle

Beautiful and unique, this space is a destination in its own right. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. You can expect a beautifully furnished room (with extra-thoughtful bedding and amenities) plus a simply spectacular breakfast in the morning.
