Beautiful historic mansion with period furnishings and excellent attention to detail! Innkeeper was very hospitable and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious! Well kept grounds and pleasant scenery. Close to downtown dining. Will definately will be staying here again!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Thornwald Mansion. It is nicely secluded in a park yet you are within walking distance to Dickinson College and a shopping center. The property has outstanding amenities and the food selections at breakfast were delicious. The service exceeded our expectations. The room and the bed were comfortable and very quiet. This mansion went under fire and then was rebuilt by the current owner from the ground up paying attention to detail and preserving its history. The grounds are gorgeous. Great location surrounded by trees and park. It was the most relaxing vacation we had had in a long time. We will definitely be back.

Great Time and Fun

The stay was great. The owner was one of the nicest people I've met in a long time. She was very helpful, courteous, and friendly. She greeted us like we were family. It was a delight to meet the other people staying at the mansion who were going to be attending the corvette show at the fair grounds like us. We shared experiences which were fun and interesting.

We were in town for the Ford Nationals. So much history in this home! Luxurious accommodations! The hosts were incredible and very flexible with our time frame. We had to be out early each morning and she made our breakfast to go. My husband and I will definitely be back next year! Thank you Rkia for your investment in this home. Make sure your air conditioner works

Make sure that the air conditioning works in your room. Ours didn’t and we had a sleepless night. We could have been moved to another room, but that was not offered to us even though one was available.

The staff was especially accommodating. I requested coffee @ 5 a.m. since I am an early riser. It was delivered promptly and it was of high quality. Tea in my room was served upon my return. Breakfasts were excellent. I stayed by myself and it was exactly the respite I needed.

This is really a Mansion. Good space and lots of space in the yard to walk around. Lots of history there too. Breakfast was sumptuous. I will recommend this place to people and will love to stay here for a longer period not just 1 night.

A treasure in Carlisle

I stayed at the Thornwald Mansion for a few days while on a business trip in Carlisle. The owner was so warm and personable, and the property was gorgeous. I am a vegan, and the owner was so kind in making me breakfast each morning. She also was so knowledgeable about the history of the property and town which I am always very interested in. Why stay at a chain hotel, when you can have a unique, pampered experience, at a super affordable rate?? This property is perfect for special occasions, but accessible for business trips, and leisure travel as well. The property is slightly tucked away, but also right downtown, with easy access to restaurants, stores, and anything else you may need. Definitely stay at the Thornwald Mansion!

Great Hostess in Carlisle!

We were visiting Carlisle for a parents' weekend at Dickinson College. Thornwald has an interesting history in Carlisle and it is always fun to stay somewhere unique. Rkia, one of the owners, is probably one of the sweetest, loveliest people we have met.

Enjoyable stay in Carlisle

Very comfortable and large room (Michaelangelo). A/C much appreciated in warm, humid weather. Beautifully restored mansion in quiet, park setting. Furnished with antiques. Modern bathroom. Excellent breakfast. Delightful owners. Close to Carlisle. Would stay here again if I return to Carlisle.
