Misleading

The listing states that it's pet friendly...it is not. The listing shows a fenced in yard supposedly for your pets to use the bathroom in & roam around. You are not able to use it...but you won't find that out until you are there at the property.You will have to take your pets out & walk them for them to use the bathroom...due to there being nowhere to go in the actual property.We had an elderly dog with us that could not walk very far & could not see or hear very well. We had to take her out front...off the property...for her & our other dog to go to the bathroom on the side of the house by where the train goes by. Also if your pets go to the bathroom in the neighbors yard...you will get fined...which will be charged to your credit card...& the neighbors do have cameras up.Also there was nothing to clean the floors in the house with. They have a vacuum that does not work...so I had to buy a broom & dustpan just to clean the dirt up off the floor...which I left there in the closet with the vac that doesn't work.I spoke with the manager often regarding the pet bathroom thing especially...but they really didn't seem to care much. There's also a tenant with a dog in the back house on the property as well.Had I known that there was not a fenced in yard for our dogs...I would not have rented this house. We would have found another place.I'm not sure if they have changed their listing regarding the bathroom issue for your pets. I suggested they do that.

Really great location - close to everything

We chose this property for its location and dog friendliness. It delivered on both counts. It's a 3 min walk to the trail that runs along the lagoon at the end of the street (ocean just beyond). Perfect for morning dog walk or viewing the sunset. A 20 minute walk (or short drive) will take you into Carlsbad village where there are plenty of restaurants and shops. Other places (like a dog beach, restaurants, etc.) were also conveniently close by car. The house is comfortable and clean - even the beds are comfortable. The train track is just yards away and after the initial surprise at hearing the train whistle and whoosh the first time, we all got used to it and it was surprisingly not disruptive -- even at night. Really. First time booking with Urban Sands and very much appreciated and was impressed with how easy it was, how quickly I received responses to questions (text & email) and how efficient the whole check-in/out and booking process was. Everyone I contacted with was friendly and helpful. 5 Stars for that. 4.5 for the house ONLY because of minor things that could easily be added: more hooks and towel racks so things can dry, a shelf in small bath for toiletries/kit. Was cold in December and shower temps were barely warm; shower heads or pressure was weak so getting ready took too long and made everyone cranky. In summer that might not matter. We were surprised there were no dishtowels or soap. Lots of beach towels, tho', so great for summer.

With family and friends in the area, we wanted specific sleeping accommodations, outside areas to use for casual socializing, and a location close to the beach if one or more wanted to spend some time there. This property was great for all.

Comfortable in Carlsbad

Really enjoyed our stay here! It was close to downtown and all of the amenities of the area. The space was very clean and matched the description. The only minor complaint is how close the space is to the train tracks. Just bring some ear plugs and you’ll be good to go! Overall though, I would stay here again!

Sweet treat in Carlsbad

We had a great stay at we call a Sweet treat in Carlsbad! The location was perfect. We could walk into town easily and enjoy a morning or afternoon shopping or at the Farmer's Market. Beach access was perfect because it is close enough to walk but far enough away to avoid the massive traffic. We had no problems with any of the amenities. Thanks for such a great stay! P.S. the trains were not that bad and blended into the background within a day.

Perfect Location in Carlsbad

Loved the property - very clean and cute. Can’t beat the location - walk to beach and village. Excellent communication with the property host. Trains were fun and not an issue at all even for our light sleeper! Would definitely rent this property again.

Excellent home in great location!

My family loved our stay at this property. The kitchen and rooms were very spacious. It was an easy walk into Carlsbad Village. And we loved talking walks by the lagoon. It was easy to contact the host and the long term renters behind the property were very friendly. We truly enjoyed our stay.

Charming but noisy

The property adjoins the railroad tracks separating you by one stucco brick wall only. I have a history of working on the trains, so it does not bother me, but I can see how it would really impact other guests. The window coverings need to be addressed as the privacy is a little low. Other than that the beds are comfy, the open floor plan of the kitchen and dining room is fabulous and the location is wonderful except for the train. The lagoon is at the end of the block and a wonderful short walk to watch the sunset in the evening. There is a charming Italian restaurant around the corner and you are a short walk to Carlsbad Village . The hosts communicate beautifully. However, with my extended stay, I wish they reached out to see if I needed any restock on supplies. The only reason this is not a five star location is the railroad proximity and window coverings. The only other thing to note is that it was clean, clean, clean clean, which is hard to do with a place that allows pets.

Planning our return already

Exceeded expectations! Home was easy to check-in. The little things that other hosts skimp on (e.g. toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, shower soap, salt/pepper, etc.) was provided. The bed was comfortable, too - I got a great night sleep. The location was fantastic - easy to walk to Better Buzz or a 7 min drive to Windmill Food Hall. Plenty of affordable grocery stores nearby, too! Parking on the property was easy. Not to mention, check-out was easy. The best part of it all was how dog friendly the home was. Thank you for a wonderful stay! Looking forward to returning!

Great value for the location!

This is such a cute cottage close to the beach. We also had no problem walking along the coast to Carlsbad Village where there are a ton of great restaurants and shops. The trains do blow their horns frequently as late as midnight or 1am; but I got used to it within a couple of days. The property manager was very quick to respond to questions and concerns and the house was clean and beds very comfortable. My only suggestion is that the kitchen needs to be better stocked. There was only one wine glass and no larger casserole for baking and no baking sheets if you wanted to cook a pizza or something. We usually cook quite a bit when we VRBO so just a few more basic items would be great to add. Wonderful stay overall!

Lovely Home - Good Vibes

We stayed here with our son and appreciated the close proximity to Legoland and the beach. Spacious and tidy, the house had plenty of towels, cozy blankets, and kitchenware, plus the beds were super comfortable. There were quite a few trains passing through which we got used to after a day or so, but they are loud and startling at first. Enjoyed the bamboo and tranquil backyard with ping-pong table. Overall, we greatly enjoyed our stay and would return!

Great little spot/close to beach

Nice accommodations with easy access to beach.

Nicely decorated, dog friendly, affordable property in a quiet neighborhood within an easy 10-12 minute walk to Tamarack Beach. Met the needs for a pleasant 5 night stay.

Comfortable Home

The property was surrounded by cul de sacs which made it very private. The decor was clean and modern. It looked like it had been recently renovated. Fire pit on the patio was a nice addition. Train tracks were near the property and some trains blew their whistles just as they came by which startled us in the kitchen but we were warned about that. The bedroom is further away and less intrusive. I do not mind trains and actually enjoy them but some people may have issues with that. We shared the backyard with others tenants but they were away most of the time and when they were there, they were very quiet and respectful. The property is near the lagoon where a trail is marked for walking. The view from the Cliff is stunning. We are near the beach and coastal towns. We loved our stay. Easy check in and check out made it simple.

great getaway

we have enjoyed our visit to Carlsbad and felt comfortable in this rental property. nicely decorated, walking proximity to the beach and safe neighborhood. it is right next to railroad track, which we expected, but took a day to adjust. fast response by property management to address a broken bed was very much appreciated and did not interrupt out stay.

Excellent location to everything

We were very happy with our stay, quick response to our questions, close to the beach and downtown Carlsbad along with being a short drive to the San Diego attractions. Would definitely recommend. There are passenger trains that come by a few times a day and night but that wasn't a problem because they go by quickly and aren't loud. We look forward to coming back in the future.
