This modern Downtown 2 bedroom/2 bath home is ready to be your next home base for exploring world famous Carmel-by-the-Sea and adjoining Pacific Ocean Coastline. Walk to coffee, shops, art galleries, restaurants and the white sand beach.

A few steps puts you into the heart of Carmel by the Sea with its wealth of world class dining, shopping, wine tasting and art galleries. All of this with the rugged Pacific Coast just a short walk down the street, perfect for an after dinner stroll. Carmel by the Sea with its long history of being an artist’s colony has left it today with so many art galleries to stroll and enjoy.

You never need to move your car to enjoy the sights and happenings of downtown! But if you do decide to venture out, Point Lobos state park is just down Highway 1 (Big Sur about an hour further). Or enjoy the world famous 17-Mile Drive, Laguna Seca Raceway, Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row area.

Love wine, check out the nearby 15 tasting rooms and later pair it with a gourmet dinner and a coastal walk to watch the sunset and end the day.

Great location!!! First off, it has parking for one car and that is a real treasure in Carmel where parking is problematic. Next, you can walk to everything, the beach, restaurants, shops, etc. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well. Grace was very responsive throughout the entire booking process and our stay. It really is a “Cozy Oak” place.

Overall decent stay at the house. recommendations : clean the stone walkway (very slick when wet), needs a light above in living room and a light on porch, given California’s desire to conserve water, fix the amount of time it takes to heat the shower water (it takes about 3 minutes to get the water warm). Could use a quality upgrade in towels, two twins for King versus one mattress. Perhaps a bit nit picky, but the rental wasn’t cheap.

Terrible customer service!

The downtown property listed in Carmel by the sea is the property we booked several months in advance of our trip. 5 days before our arrival, I received an email from the property owner advising she had to cancel our booking due to an "emergency maintenance" issue and provided a link to another property. I opened the link and the property was for a 1 bedroom/1 bath which did not work for us as my husband and I were traveling with another couple. I requested she call me immediately as she did not provide me a phone number to contact her. She did call within 10 minutes and I asked why the property we reserved was not available and she simply stated "a maintenance issue". I pressed asking why a maintenance issue couldn't be fixed by Saturday and she said "no it's not available for the rest of the month". Long story short, she provided us a property that was a larger home 2 bed/2bath however it was not for the full length of our stay therefore we would have to get a hotel the first and last night there. Also this property was not in town so we would not have the capability to walk every where which is why we chose this location to begin with. Bottom line; very inconvenient having to find a hotel days before our arrival and then have to move locations a total of 3 x as well as having to drive and/or Uber everywhere. Naturally there were no other options available in this short time frame, flights and other excursions already booked we were stuck! To top everything off the owner didn't even apologize, explain the situation with empathy or even acknowledge the inconvenience she was putting us in. I had to ask if she would give us a refund for two of the days we had to book a hotel for. Upon arrival to the property, there was no welcome gift or even a phone call to see if we had questions or if everything was good. The property itself was very nice, beautiful views (when the fog cleared) that is the only nice thing I can say. The furniture throughout the whole home was uncomfortable which made it hard to just sit/lay and relax with a glass of wine. The location was very inconvenient, you can't walk to anything. The most disappointing was the customer service. Unfortunately it put a damper on our overall excitement experiencing Carmel for the first time. I'm not one to ever complain or write a bad review this but this was just beyond bad!

fantastic location!

This Carmel cottage was unpretenious, clean and well enough equipped. There was a cute little fireplace that took the chill off in the evenings. There was a little back patio that we did not actually have to share that caught the evening sun. A parking spot was included (a big deal in Carmel), The location was more than perfect. We walked to the beach every morning and walked downtown to sight see and to eat. We enjoyed our time there.

Amazing location! So close to walk to great restaurants, wine tasting rooms and shopping. The house had everything we needed. It was a great trip. I hope we are able to come back soon.

Marvelous stay

We had a wonderful time at Carmel-by-the-Sea. This downtown cottage is in the center of all activities, clean, and well-appointed. We did the "Carmel Food Tours" - it is a walking, tasting and cultural tour of beautiful downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea. We Highly recommend it.

We enjoyed our visit at Cozy Oak cottage. It was clean, close to everything in Carmel. Owner’s communication was outstanding and her welcome kit had great recommendations. We would recommend this cottage for anyone visiting Carmel.

Fantastic ! Great location. Clean cozy and close to the beach

This coast is really special, the scenery and weather perfect for a long hike. Bring your water, sunglasses and good shoes and enjoy the natural beauty. We hiked at Point Lobos. Lots of trails along the ocean cliffs. It is less than a few miles from the house. We did a self-guided wine tour in downtown Carmel, fantastic! Can't wait to go back.

Very close to beach and the main streat

This is an excellent rental within walking distance from the beach and the main street. Very conveniently tucked away a couple of blocks from Ocean Avenue. The home itself is well maintained with clean kitchen and restrooms. The owner is very prompt and courteous. Highly recommend this for families or anyone requiring a 2 bedroom accommodation.

Clean, comfortable, quiet and in a great location

This rental is exactly what we were looking for. It was very peaceful and the neighbors were quiet. The house was clean, beds were comfortable, the living room had a large tv, the kitchen cabinets are stocked with condiments and odds and ends like spices, coffee, sugar and creamer. Within a block you are on the main street of downtown Carmel. Lots of shops, restaurants and galleries. I Highly recommend this rental.

Great rental cottage in Carmel. 5 blocks from beach and only 1 block from central Carmel shopping. Cottage was clean, secure, and comfortable. Driveway parking for one vehicle. Check-in and check-out easy. We hope to be back again!

Great house in amazing location!

We stayed here with our 2 boys and loved it. The owner was very accommodating and responsive. The house is only 2 blocks to restaurants, shops and galleries and a short walk down hill to the beach. The house has updated bathrooms and a great clean and well stocked kitchen. I would highly recommend staying at this house and it even has an off street parking spot which is great

Cozy Oak Cottage in Carmel

My family of 5 stayed (3 teen/tweens) at the Cozy Cottage for 4 days and would definitely recommend to those seeking more room than a hotel room provides along with a great location in Carmel. Older home but clean and worth the location. Sleeping: King bedroom with small but private bath. Minimal furnishings (1 nightstand/lamp/luggage rack and overhead light); Second bedroom has a Queen bed and twin trundle bed and a small, clean bath in the hall. Full size washer/dryer are located in one of two large closets in the queen bedroom. Minimal furnishings (1 nightstand/lamp with an overhead light). Kitchen: spacious and well-lit with full size refrigerator, dual oven/microwave; 4 burner gas stove, coffee maker, 4-slot toaster, dishwasher and breakfast table for 6. Gas grill in backyard courtyard (accessible thru Queen bedroom or side of house). Basic cooking was very easy. Safeway grocery store approx. 1 -1.5 miles away. High-chair also in closet. Living Room: seating for 5 (1 sofa and 2 arm chairs) with flat-screen tv. Additional space in living room for golf club storage. Electric f/p helps heat room if needed. Location is amazing: 3-4 blocks from the beach, 1 block from Ocean Avenue shops; exterior hose for washing away sand, and highly sough-after single car driveway. No Air Conditioning but with new windows and screens that open/lock easily - we never needed it. In fact, we used the heat in July. Smoke detectors and Carbon monoxide detectors. Cozy, clean and fabulous location!
