This hotel is directly on busy street with a lot of trucks and buses coming day and night. So noice is disturbing. Additional problem: the restaurant. They just don’t know how to cook. We made an error by having a dinner there: the meet was oversalted and the fish was like rubber.

This hotel was perfect while staying in Turrialba to go white river rafting on the river. Its walking distance to downtown and to the bus station (I arrived via bus from San Jose and walked to the hotel in minutes). The staff here is wonderful. Great breakfast, simple and clean rooms. This hotel is awesome and for an affordable price!

It was very nice that despite being located nearly in mid-town Turrialba, Wagelia hotel was much quiet at night in order to catch a very good sleep. Thanks for that and a good service from all staff members, too!

The hotel staff were very friendly and always available to answer questions. We had to arrive very late (after 2am) and we were able to get into our room, so that was nice. The TV in our room was maybe a little broken (part of the screen did not work), but that was not a big deal.

Wagelia is a little oasis in busy Turrialba. The rooms were fairly quiet and the hotel was very peaceful.

Would not return to this hotel

Older mattresses on boards - very hard and uncomfortable. Website says they have a/c, but NO ROOMS have a/c. Window does not have a screen, so (a) bugs were in the room, (b) you can hear everything in the passage way, (c) hall lights are on until midnight, but can't close the curtain since the room is so hot. Small wall fan did NOT cool the room as promised. Small bathroom was OK, but there is nothing to stop the water from the shower flowing all over the floor, which is VERY slippery when wet. Plenty of hot water. No refrigerator in room, and the hotel does not have ice, or access to cold drinks. Departing the hotel at 6am each morning, but breakfast only starts at 6:30am. Very nice & friendly people, but this does not make up for the lack of comfort or service. Very busy all week so no time to deal with the headache of trying to change hotels when we returned at 10pm. We folded the thin comforters to use as more padding on top the mattresses, used bug spray in the room before trying to sleep. Fantastic bakery across the street, but it closes by 8pm. Turrialba is a great area, just find a more comfortable place to stay.

Hidden gem of a town with few tourists

Stayed 4 nights so plenty of time to look around. On site tour group offered many different tours you could do and also lots of ideas for doing things on your own around the town. Bus station a bit crazy, hardish to find the correct bus but all part of the fun, lovely friendly helpful people everywhere.

Terribly creaky bed

This hotel was very basic. One bed in room creaked if you sat on it or slightly moved. The other was very hard. Quiet sleep, given busy street outside. Breakfast was simple - fruit, toast, coffee, cereal.
