You have to want to stay here because it is the real deal to bring you back in history and know what it is like to live in a time where people only have amenities that were built 100 years ago. But the McMenamins experience is more than just where you sleep, it’s where you play, eat,drink and make new friends. It’s a true getaway from normal blah days. I love it so much I am planning my next trip.

The staff was great, and the bar/restaurant was too. The place is a little noisy, and the train is unlikely to be moved to the next town. It's a little awkward sharing the bathrooms. Next time, we will probably stay somewhere else, but still come to the restaurant.

mcmenamins is always super fun! Basic SRO style rooms , but very comfortable beds and linens. Like usual, this is a bit different from the usual hotel room - the facilities are great and the amenities far more comfortable than you’d think for the price , but if you want the average motel experience keep looking. Vintage touches galore., modern AC / hvac, no direct controls. Wifi limited. Mcmenamins restaurants are technically next door , meaning you will ever so briefly exit to street , so no breakfast in your slippers , but also fun. Trains are VERY close - for me that’s a feature not a bug but if you’re sensitive to sound , bring noise cancellation . pre-ADA means steep stairs , and you’ll need two hands to manipulate a physical door key for a bolt and separate handle - not a problem for me either but be aware ! Cozy restaurant next door with firepit outside and wood burning stove inside , fun vintage cinema theater experience included ; main street area close to all the shops bars restaurants that old downtown centralia has to offer - again small but hopefully if you book this you’re going on purpose for the experience! I’ll return.

Charming decor, friendly responsive staff, clean and comfortable in the dining area, bar, pool hall, movie room and bedroom/showers. The coffee/water table upstairs in the bedroom area could be serviced more frequently, with more tea bags, hot water and coffee. The bed linens, specifically pillowcases, were clean but the pillows themselves needed freshening or replacing.

Charming stay

Comfy and full of character! I mean, a shared bathroom is what it is, but the restrooms were never booked when I wanted to use them and I love this local-chain family of hotels. 10/10 would stay again. Location can't be beat for a stay in Centralia.

Everything was great except the men's bathroom in the bar . The old urinals stink. I mean bad. Worse than any porta potty, i've been in . Other than that, it's a nice hotel and I do recommend it
