Amazing & Peaceful Getaway

From the minute that we walked into the cabin, all of our stress and worries just floated away. The cabin was beautiful, and offered every amenity one could ask for. The owner was the icing on the cake as she was super helpful, and a wonder to talk too! We would definitely recommend this cabin to all who want a peaceful getaway with themselves or a few friends.

Outstanding in every way

This was hands down the best cabin/vrbo experience ever...and we have been lucky to have had many from which to compare. Genny is the most caring and warm host and it shows in every detailed and thoughtful aspect of this rental. This is a warm and loving home you are renting, not a characterless ten a penny property. It is very secluded and private with all mod cons but just a short drive from all modern day needs although as others have said, once here, you will not want to leave! There is an old style record player with a vast array of records to enjoy and there is plenty of space for a two step! We disconnected with the outside world and reconnected with each other especially as a snowstorm meant living by candlelight and the woodburner for a couple of nights. There was extras of batteries, candles, wood, blankets and scruffy, warm, fluffy socks! Genny even super kindly offered for us to stay with her during the power cut, such is her thoughtfulness. This cabin made us feel blissfully lost in a simpler time. We are so grateful to have found this cabin and cannot wait to come back and enjoy a Summer retreat.

Enjoyable Cabin stay

Enjoyed our stay at this cabin, very close to breweries/etc along Nelson 151, as well as close to wintergreen resort. Very secluded and an excellently curated cabin experience. Would certainly stay again!

Heaven on Earth!

I can’t say enough about this cabin. It is even better than the pictures! Every inch is thoughtfully decorated and curated for a cozy stay. It is supplied with everything one could want and more. We planned on exploring the area but decided to stay and enjoy the cabin instead. The shower was hot with great water pressure. Bed was super comfy. Genny was a wonder host and left us a sweet gift of homemade preserves. Our only regret is not booking a longer stay! We will definitely be back.

Wonderful Thanksgiving Getaway!

My family and I had the best time at Genny's cabin over the Thanksgiving Day Holiday! We had a great time cooking, making fires (in the fireplace and the fire pit outside), enjoying the outdoors, and hanging out with each other. This cabin was a wonderful place to unwind and slow down. Thank you so much, Genny, for providing an awesome cabin for us to stay in!

Always Amazing!

This was our 3rd or 4th time staying at Genny’s cabin, but our first time in the colder months. (We usually come in spring or summer.) The fall decor was such a festive touch, and the wood stove was so wonderful in the evenings. Loved sitting on the porch, bundled up, looking at the beautiful colors and enjoying the absolute peace and quiet. We chose this cabin, which is one of our favorite places and that’s why we keep coming back, to celebrate our anniversary and to disconnect from the outside world and reconnect with each other. As usual, it was perfect. Always incredibly clean, well stocked, comfortable bed, great shower. We’ll keep coming back as long as we can!

Very Nice Cabin

Everything was exactly as advertised. But, there wasn’t much to do as all the wineries were closed for some reason and there isn’t really any shopping in Lovingston. We tried to take the dog for a walk but a loose dog from down the hill chased us back! LOL! We did thoroughly enjoy the cabin and the little extras the owners provide like robes, toiletries, coffee, etc. Owners are very communicative. Fun Time!

Total serenity!

This is our 4th year and we "LOVE " this sweet cabin so much! The minute we pull up the driveway we have tears of joy to be back again. We appreciate all the extra effort that you take to make us feel welcome, from the fresh flowers on the table to the fresh herbs outside and the delicious jam! When we have to leave we have tears of sadness but leave feeling blessed that we enjoyed every minute we were there. Thank you for everything you do to make this a "home away from home".

The perfect stay!

We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay! The property was beautiful, and the cabin was equipped with everything you need. Every time I said “gosh I wish I had remembered to bring X with me,” there it was! From the spices in the kitchen and the coffee, to all the fun board games available, it was great. The fire pit was wonderful as well, and we enjoyed sitting on the porch during a downpour. The cabin is perfectly tucked away, but also just minutes from 29, which was insanely convenient. We don’t have children, but this seems like the perfect place to have them—there’s a sandbox outside and a play room inside. I highly recommend this cabin for anyone looking to relax and escape, while still being close to hikes, wineries, breweries, grocery stores and restaurants. We loved it!

Rustic well equipped cabin in the woods

Davis Creek Cabin is a quaint little cabin secluded in the woods off of Route 29 near Lovingston. Beautiful flower planters and garden greet you as you drive up to a nice front porch with rockers and a porch swing. The mini white lights add a beautiful ambiance in the evening while sitting outside. The inside is rustic but comfortable. The kitchen is equipped with everything that you need to prepare meals if you choose to. These include spices, oils & foil. The kitchen table is spacious and can seat 6. The living room/kitchen area downstairs has a free standing A/C unit that cools very adequately there. There is a nice big leather couch, a huge easy chair, a rocker and some stools. But don't expect a large wide screen TV. (There is a small smart TV in the upstairs Master bedroom). The wifi works great here. The master bedroom has a king bed that is fairly comfortable but a little hard for us. We carry our memory foam mattress topper with us and we needed to use it here for our comfort. The upstairs is quite warm during the summer except for the master bedroom which has another free standing A/C unit along with a ceiling fan and they keep you plenty cool in that room to sleep. The other bedroom doesn't have an A/C unit so it would be warm for sleeping during the summer months. The "extras" that the owner has seen to are what makes this cabin special. There are nice dishes and flatware not just mismatched leftovers. There are nice soaps, shampoo and room sprays, kleenex, a magnifying makeup mirror, excellent quality cotton linens, and plenty of fluffy bath towels and kitchen towels. Outside the owner has left plenty of bug spray for your use. These extras were a real bonus and were appreciated! It was too hot to enjoy the firepit out back but it was a lovely spot.

Eastern Blue Ridge Cabin

The cabin is as described. Very peaceful and remote feeling yet near breweries, wineries and hiking. Owner easy and pleasant . Well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, nice porch and fire pit. We enjoyed our stay.

Charming Cabin in the Woods

We had a lovely week at this charming cabin in the woods! It was our home-base to explore historical sites (Appomattox and Monticello), antique and book shops closeby and a few miles down the road, morning walks by the farm, with the occasional siting of wildlife, one or two wineries, and good napping, of course! Our host, Genny, made us feel so welcome, and was only a quick message or call away if we had any questions. Thank you, thank you!!

A quiet place

This is a cabin in the woods and what we were looking for to get away from the Metro DC/Northern VA area. All you can hear is nature. I rate the location/neighborhood as high as I can because this was our priority. We have dogs, one is an oldie and we do not travel without her. We enjoyed our stay as well as our dogs and our niece joined us unexpectedly at the last minute. She loved the coziness of the smaller bedroom. The cabin has high speed internet that worked well. You can unplug, or if you must or if someone cannot detach from electronics, you have this ability. I only checked on work one time! Dogs - we have retrievers that are off-leash trained, but we mostly kept them unleash (there is a delicious looking brown bunny living under the shed). We needed to get away from to a quiet place over the 4th of July weekend. This was perfect. We enjoyed Afton with Tragger Brothers's Coffee and Blue Ridge Brewery, all dog friendly. We could only hear nature at the cabin. Again, this is a cabin in the woods, it fit our needs, we relaxed and enjoyed our time and it is fun as you settle and notice all the little sweet touches inside and out. Genny is a lovely host who clearly cares.

Perfect getaway

Davis Creek cabin is even more amazing than we expected. Genny has thought of everything anyone could need. We played horseshoes, cornhole and bbq'd almost every night and finished our nights at the fire pit. Close enough to trails and wineries, but secluded enough to feel like you're hidden away. Definitely the most cozy house we've ever stayed in on vacation.

So many little surprises

We really enjoyed out stay at the cabin. There were so many little surprises the owner thought of for their guest-like a little jar of homemade strawberry jam-yum, the local coffee with grinder, the "dog paws" towel, the wood set in the fireplace. We loved our stay and would highly recommend! Bedding clean and comfortable, well stocked with toiletries.

Always Wonderful

This was our second time at Genny’s cabin. We couldn’t wait to come back, and this time we celebrated my birthday. The cabin is always spotless and has every amenity you could want. It’s like staying at a high-end hotel, but in a rustic cabin in the middle of the woods. My husband and I love this place so much - if we were to own a cabin, this is exactly what ours would be like. We treat it like home and try to take care of it as though it’s ours. I love that we can come here and unplug, listen to records on the record player, cook our dinner in the extremely well-stocked kitchen, and hang out at the fire pit at night. And I don’t have to worry about anything because Genny has truly thought of everything. Thank you again, Genny! We are already trying to plan our next visit!

Anniversary Trip

We celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary in this beautifully maintained cabin close to great hikes, wineries and breweries. Very private and has everything you need. We hope to return soon.
