Waterfront Home, Hot Tub, Gas Fireplace, Fire Pit, WiFi, Family & Dog-Friendly
This welcoming modern cottage is located directly on Fontana Lake in the summer and Alarka Creek in the fall, winter, and spring. Pull your boat up to our dock in the summer or fish in the trout-stocked creek steps outside your door when the lake is down. Let the sounds of the flowing creek wash away all of your life's stress or hop in the hot tub for the same effect!
The house has a well-stocked kitchen with the tools and spices needed to help prepare a meal. The living room's gas fireplace provides the perfect backdrop for family game time, curling up with a book, or a romantic evening in. With a memory foam king bed in the upper suite, queen bunk beds downstairs, and two baths, this cottage perfectly accommodates a family or two couples traveling together. A Pack 'n Play and booster seat are provided. A washer and dryer are also available. You will find many of the "little things" are taken care of to help make your stay easy and comfortable.
Hiking, biking, rafting, and more are just minutes away. In about 10-20 minutes, you can drive to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, Tsali Recreation Area, Nantahala Outdoor Center, and Bryson City. Or stay in and enjoy a book, movie, or game with your family and friends. In addition to the smart TV and Roku, you'll have an extensive DVD collection to choose from. There is also an NES Classic Nintendo, with 30 retro Nintendo games, to help keep the kids, or the kid in you, entertained.
Fontana Lake is typically up from Memorial Day to Labor Day. During this time, boating, kayaking, and swimming directly from our cottage is possible. After Labor Day, the lake level is lowered and Alarka Creek is just outside the door. The creek level varies, but it generally isn't deep enough to support boating or kayaking. While we cannot control the water level, we are happy to answer any questions you have about it before your stay.
Bryson City is approximately 10-15 minutes down the road. There you will find a grocery store, dining options, local breweries, and shopping.
Cherokee is approximately 25 minutes away, just a few exits down highway 74. Here, Harrah's Cherokee Casino, museums and cultural experiences, hiking, biking, and more await your discovery!

We had a wonderful, quiet weekend. Everything was so clean, well appointed, and easy. The hot tub by the water was lovely. The host was so quick to respind to any questions. Couldn't have been a better experience!
It’s perfect! The house was so clean and adorable and decorated for Christmas. The river is gorgeous. It feels isolated but isn’t far from town. Can ’t say enough good things! We plan to visit again for sure!
Property was clean and well-stocked. We enjoyed the dock and lake- as did our dogs. I did have to run into town to buy a float as there were no tubes/floats, just kayaks. Not a big deal, but you might want to BYO.
My husband and I enjoyed our stay and plan to go back to the property in the future. It’s a great location and Bryson City has a ton of adventure to offer. I rated the cleanliness of the property 4 stars not because the home was unclean, but because the outside space was covered with spiders and webs. Early October is a bad time of year for bugs which I completely understand. If you are spider weary clean the deck prior to sitting outside or enjoying the hot tub.
We had such a great trip in this lovely cabin with excellent amenities.
The cabin has wifi for the streamlining service on the tv and maybe another device but cell service was a no. I tried to enable WiFi calling but it wouldn’t work and I’m not complaining because I had forced separation from work lol.
Sitting on the porch drinking coffee in the morning and listening to the water, relaxing with some adult beverages at the fire pit were highlights for me.
The hot tub was nice but we only got to use once and the fireplace adds ambience. (Don’t forget that hot air rises for when you to bed 😁)
Would definitely stay here again if in the area.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this secluded home. The description by the host fits perfectly with the home. It is a perfect home for a family getaway. The second bedroom with bunk beds is perfect for kids but may not be suitable for another couple. There is no cell service and the internet is sufficient for streaming and 1 other device to be connected since the internet speeds top out at 2 Mbps. The home is well stocked with supplies and accessories such as kayaks. The hot tub is a wonderful amenity after a day of paddling around on the kayaks. The water levels of the lake were up enough for us to enjoy use of the dock but we’re dropping significantly by the end of our stay due to rain shortages. There is plenty to do in the area with many wonderful hiking locations, tubing locations, scenic drives, and excursions like the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad. Do not miss taking a day to go to Fontana Dam or heading out to the Tunnel to Nowhere. If you are looking for a secluded home with an abundance of Mother Nature you will not be disappointed with 160 Fontana Lane. Thanks Matt & Jill for a wonderful stay.
We really enjoyed our stay! The home was clean, roomy enough, had lots of extras such as pantry items, we enjoyed the hot tub, we enjoyed the firepit area, and overall had a great time.
Everything was fantastic. The home was clean, had all the necessities we could need. It's quiet and super close to town and pet friendly! We enjoyed the fire pit at night and went into town during the day or just enjoyed the sound of the stream. Very relaxing and the host is excellent!
Lovely home on the water. Secluded and private but still close to restaurants and shopping. House was well stocked with anything you could need and very clean. Host was wonderful and responded immediately. Will stay again!
We had a blast at this home. We miss the birds chirping in the trees already. Great location and we love Bryson City. Everything was as advertised. We are looking forward to coming back to this property again.
Wonderful time in this lovely home. Beautiful setting...... house nestled in lovely forest on stream. Owner extremely helpful!!!! I highly recommend a stay!!!
We loved the home with its location to the creek. We were in the water fishing the entire trip. Easy access in and out, especially to Bryson City. Quiet and scenic. We were able to launch at Alarka Marina even though the creek was a bit low, which was so convenient. Our son even had a visit from the Easter Bunny. We can't wait to stay again during the summer to take advantage of the high water.
Beautiful little cabin on the river. Nothing fancy but doesn’t have to be. The location does it all. Cabin was clean and fully stocked with all necessities. Matt was great with communication as well. Had a wonderful time. Would stay there again.
