I have stayed in many Marriotts and usually love the level of comfort. This place was a problem. The room was pricy, the only option is valet parking $80 a nigh which is at the high end of normal for Chicago, however on the way in and out no doorman or valet was present I had to go find someone inside. The front door was broken, the complimentary water was empty the whole stay, the room which I was told was an upgrade to my booking was tiny, old and the view of the city was actually a view of a multistory parking lot, the air conditioning smelt strongly of mold which worried me enough to turn it off. They also charged me an additional 25 “resort fee” and gave me a 15 ticket toward food or a drink. There is no restaurant at this hotel and when I asked for food at the bar I was told there was non. 15 did not even cover the cost of one bar drink. The waiter was very nice and helped me find take out. Overall my guess is that this place is grossly understaffed those I did encounter seemed nice enough. Marriott needs to get its act together on this one.
