Hotel is old but nice and clean. Definitely not a "cookie cutter" type but full of charm and character. Loved the outdoor patio area. Very nice area close to many restaurants and bars - we ate at Kalaveras which was fantastic. Staff were great - very friendly and helpful. The only negative was the location of the tv (to the right of the bed) - I guess a downside of 1930's construction. Overall a very nice place for a short stay.

The property is a boutique hotel. Clean and decorated lobby that is pleasant in which to read or have coffee. Lovely outdoor area if you want to enjoy food from the venors on 3rd street. Great pizza from La Bella or pastries from bakery across one block. Great location. Great parking. Rooms are clean. Best are the owners. So friendly. John Smethurst. NC.

This hotel was built in the 1930s and is very old. The owners have a lot of information regarding the history of the building and continue to do regular maintenance and updates. The hotel is on a semi quiet street and conveniently located with easy access to San Diego, Coronado Island and the places I visit in Chula Vista. A large, walled-off courtyard is where I enjoy my morning coffee as often as possible. This was my fourth stay at El Primero and I will continue to stay here when I return to the San Diego area.

Small nostalgic hotel located in downtown Chula Vista so walking distance to breweries and restaurants. Room was very small but to be expected for an old hotel. Bed was hard and uncomfortable.
