Hotel is old but nice and clean. Definitely not a "cookie cutter" type but full of charm and character. Loved the outdoor patio area. Very nice area close to many restaurants and bars - we ate at Kalaveras which was fantastic. Staff were great - very friendly and helpful. The only negative was the location of the tv (to the right of the bed) - I guess a downside of 1930's construction. Overall a very nice place for a short stay.

The customer service takes the cake here! Everyone was so friendly. While the hotel itself is older, it is very well-maintained and very clean. It was a comfortable stay.

This hotel was built in the 1930s and is very old. The owners have a lot of information regarding the history of the building and continue to do regular maintenance and updates. The hotel is on a semi quiet street and conveniently located with easy access to San Diego, Coronado Island and the places I visit in Chula Vista. A large, walled-off courtyard is where I enjoy my morning coffee as often as possible. This was my fourth stay at El Primero and I will continue to stay here when I return to the San Diego area.

Easy parking next to hotel, in a convenient location with near by stores, staff was friendly and property was clean and room was cozy. For 1 night it was more than expected.
