Sunny House in Altenau, Harz: Upper Harz Vacation Home

Welcome to the sunny Haus Altenau, with beautiful views of the village and the mountain meadow.

Our beautiful and centrally located house can accommodate 12 people and features a small, cosy garden, a balcony, and a sunroom. The house is located right next to the toboggan run, cross-country ski trails, and hiking trails. The Altenau thermal baths are also just 300 metres away.

The Accommodation
The house has a living area of 160 square metres and offers plenty of space to relax, with 1 kitchen, 2 dining rooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 living room, 6 bedrooms, a sunroom, and a balcony.
The house also features a garage (a current Passat Variant fits just barely) and a parking space. The parking space is near the house entrance. Additional parking spaces and the garage are located behind the property, a 20-meter walk away.

You will be assisted on-site by Ms. Strüber.

Firewood can be purchased at the local supermarket (Neukauf, 500 m away).

Fully equipped, including a coffee machine (no milk frother), toaster, dishwasher, hob, oven (no microwave), small freezer compartment

The beds are not made; if you do not wish to bring your own bedding and towels, you can rent a linens set on-site for €18 per person.


About the town:

Altenau offers 7 restaurants, a bakery, a supermarket, a pharmacy, its own brewery, a snack bar, a bank, and a post office. The supermarket and bakery are open every day. Altenau is also home to a beautiful, modern thermal spa, a forest outdoor pool, and Germany’s largest herb garden.

You can get all the information you need for your excursions in the Harz Mountains at the Oberharz Tourist Information Office, which is headquartered in Altenau.

Altenau is centrally located in the Upper Harz; neighbouring towns include Torfhaus and Clausthal-Zellerfeld. Goslar is a 30-minute drive away via the B498.

The house is not suitable for parties; please be considerate of our friendly neighbors.
Please leave the house swept clean; place any used dishes in the dishwasher—our friendly housekeeping staff will take care of the rest.

Please note that a visitor’s tax must be paid to the tourist office per day and per person (ages 18 and up); children ages 6 and up pay a reduced rate, and younger children are free. The tourist tax is to be paid upon your arrival at the Altenau Tourist Information Office. In exchange, you will receive tourist cards offering various discounts on activities in the Upper Harz region.
