Check-in was pretty bad - the chap at the front desk couldn't find our reso and while he wrestled the computer he just sat his dog on the counter (small dog, plexiglass barrier that had too small a gap at the bottom for the dog to directly touch us, but just a bit, well, weird!)
On the good front the room was bigger than expected, clean, full-size fridge-freezer so we could recharge the icepacks from our cooler properly, large new TV - less good was the window in the door which while privacy was not an issue as there was a frosted effect, let a huge amount of light in at dawn. Considering the other two windows were barely larger and they had proper blackout drapes, a real oversight!
WiFi was also inadequate for how many rooms they have - signal constantly dropped all evening, but at 5am when we were woken up by the sun it worked perfectly, so it wasn't a range-from-the-modem issue but purely down to insufficient capacity. We could read emails, but couldn't even play simple games if they needed a live server link. The very old-looking AC unit did cool the room fine, but was unable to provide 'white noise' even in 'constant fan' mode as the volume went up and down frequently but with no pattern.
If in Hinton, no need for reliable fast WiFi, with earplugs and an eye shade, I'd say it's a good choice for you - nice wee pub just down the road, a couple of other dining options even closer, deskclerk was friendly - but we wouldn't stay again ourselves.
Very clean, decent sized room, plain Jane but pleasantly surprised. The wifi did not work. Easy check in.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
This was an overnight stay while travelling. The staff was great, the room was clean and the water hot. The reality is this is an older property and works as is, but could use a refresh. Interesting feature that we did not use was a dog wash. First time I have seen that.
I left a list for the office manager for things to address. Although the room was clean, certain things needed to be addressed. I had to kill and spider and an ant upon initial arrival (before my wife saw them!). The ceiling and exhaust fan in the bathroom were covered in spider webs and lint. The leg on the table was broken/loose and thankfully didn't create an accident for us. The TV stand took up a big portion of the room and hanging the TV would eliminate that problem. The mini fridge freezer was completely frozen over. There were no lights turned on outside of the room, so we needed to keep the headlights on the discover the room number and unload our luggage. There was a piece of flooring in the middle of the room that popped up and should be addressed before someone not wearing shoes would injury themselfOn a positive note, the motel was right next to and across the street from two good restaurants. Nothing fancy, but the food and service were good and fast. The beds and pillows were adequate for what we needed as a halfway point between Whistler and Jasper.
would not stay at monte carlo again, stayed two nights second day they didn't even make up our room, I had to go to front desk and ask for fresh towels, asked about internet front desk argued with me saying internet worked when it didn't, not clean
The Monte Carlo was a good overnight stop on the way Vancouver. The room was clean and cool, it was 38 degrees Celsius when we arrived but the room was prepared with air conditioning and cool. The only thing that was not great was the soft bed. That is just a personal preference, though. Overall it was good.

This is an older motel that has had some upgrades. The pool is nice but doesn't open until 4 and isn't open in the morning. The in room fridge doesn't have a freezer section - but the owner was willing to put my ice packs in their big freezer.

Was booked in for a week, received no housekeeping at all during this time. One day out of 7 had a do not disturb on the door for 1 hour while baby slept. Had to remove my garbage to outdoor bins as no one came to collect it. Had to go to office to ask for new towels. No working tv for whole stay as wifi converter was melted.
owners/managers lovely people, our room nice and comfy, king size bed perfect, nice sitting area. would recommend. Stayed one night at Christmas, so very quiet.

This property met our needs for a short stay, but is in desperate need of updating and deep cleaning.
The room was 10 degrees when we arrived. We told the manager, he said hurn the heat up. I have a reservation. Do you think my room should be warm on arrival. We went for dinner so room could warm.up. still was extremely cold.
We will not return.
Room is dirty.
Old place.
