Perfect for what we needed

We wanted to spend the weekend with our daughter who attends Cleveland State University and this place worked out wonderfully! Close to stores, restaurants, and great neighborhood to walk our dog. We enjoyed our stay.

Budget Focused Vrbo

In Lakewood and within walking distance of Detroit, but on the railroad tracks and not as clean/nice as the photos might suggest. When we arrived, the mini blinds in the front windows were disheveled and broken (perhaps by a pet from a previous guest?). It served us well as a place to sleep after a night out with friends, but was not a place we chose to linger and enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning.

Make sure to research

We were not expecting what we got. We failed to see any info about this unit being a house split into 3 units. It wasn’t apparent in the listing. The floors creek with every step from other renters. The driveway can hold 3-4 vehicles but is one car wide and you can be trapped by other tenants. The first morning the Wi-Fi failed. When the contact was messaged we simply received a “what is the problem” response and no further follow up. We found dirty utensils in the drawers. Including one that was clearly used to cook with and simply placed in the drawer without cleaning. Overall I would not recommend this place to anyone with kids. We basically received a place to stay. But not hang comfortably.

Okay but not great.

Mostly good but pricey. Good location, clean except the front porch and lawn. The railing for the north porch steps is dangerously loose detached at the bottom and could easily cause a fall. Haven't check yet to see if my "damage" deposit was returned as we left the premises in as good or better shape than we found it.

This worked well for my family. The floors are creaky and railroad track is next to this duplex. But overall nice place.

Great weekend in Lakewood!

The property was very nice, and the communication with the property manager was simple and polite. The stay was great, and I would definitely recommend this location and property for a nice weekend in Cleveland!

Way better than a hotel.

Place is cleaned and updated. Still had some rough spots and is obviously and old home. First night train came by twice and woke me for a minute. Next night either slept through our none came. Kids slept though no problem. Everything was in working order and way more enjoyable for my crew than a hotel ever is. Would stay again when I come in to see family a couple nights.

Just too noisy for us. With a train and the people above us .

The house had beautiful wood work and very squeaky wood floors that some places you felt like you were going to fall through. Out of date couches but you can see that by the pictures, the beds were very comfortable. Two houses from a railroad track that does go by at night and different times during the day. We stayed on the first floor so we could hear everybody walking around above us but we could not hear them talking or the TV just squeaky floors. No curtains on the windows so in the bedroom that faces the front porch we could see the second floor porch light on all night since they did not turn it off so if you are used to a light streaming through the window you’d be fine but if not it wasn’t very easy to sleep especially with cardboard in the window where the air-conditioners is. We live in the country so we were not used to the noises and the lights. Good neighborhood and close to downtown which was very nice for us. We had a nice stay and enjoyed Cleveland.

Not a Positive Experience

We arrived and there was no air conditioning. There were window units in the closet but not installed. There was record setting temps in Cleveland this weekend. There were ants in the kitchen. One of the back steps is rotted. We left the property immediately and I emailed the owner. This was all on Sunday, May 27th 2018. Once our stay was technically over on Tuesday the owner emailed me saying I should have contacted him about these issues. Obviously I did contact him since he replied to my email. The fair resolution should have been to offer a whole or partial refund.
