Hotel Castel Vecchio

"DO NOT pay attention to the negative reviews. I have visited Italy every summer my entire life. I’m ashamed to admit, I’ve never been to Castel Gandolfo. However, this hotel made the trip PERFECT. 4 meters from the center (where the palace is located) you are at this hotel. Talking to tight, make sure you’re always in a small car if you’re not taking the train, or bus. Even if you are staying in Rome, this is the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the Eternal City. Try to book the room with the Lakeview. It’s breathtaking. The staff was extremely helpful, the Señora Bella (may be a manager, or owner) realized I spoke Italian and was directing my every time. She pointed me in the right direction every time. She scolded me when I tried to drive over to the Piazza, because it’s only 4 m away. She set up a reservation for me at a restaurant called Sur Copanna. It was absolutely amazing. She is so awesome. Love her. The rest of the staff were amazing as well. You can’t go wrong staying here, don’t pay attention to the negative reviews. You’re not going to get better accommodations in this area."

"A good 45 minutes from Rome.....and a 60 euro taxi drive The hotel is related to the swimming pool and hotsprings....but cost additional. Overall the stay was nice if you dont mind being away from the busy aspect of the city. The train is nearby...a 5 minute walk if you are good with metro travel....although the tiburtini station can be confusing....."

"Thw only problem we had was with the AC. We were there the first week of October and our rooms were warm. When we asked they told us it had not been turned on and they would do so. After going back and forth a few times we were told they just turned on the blower because in the ‘winter’ they don’t have AC. We did not have this issue traveling in Italy for over 25 days. It was strange and felt like they did not want to just tell us that from the beginning. Otherwise the hotel was lovely appointed."
