My daughter had one wish for her 4th birthday: to stay in a hotel. I chose this one because of the indoor pool and the inviting outdoor space by the pond — and I’m so glad we did.
Was it perfect? No. The indoor pool area could use some upgrades — safer, less slippery floors, actual pool towels, and better air circulation to cut the humidity (and the echo, which was real 😅). But the room was clean, the bed was super comfortable, and most importantly, it gave my kids space to laugh, splash, and play without bothering anyone else.
They had a blast swimming while it stormed outside and then frog-hunting by the pond when the skies cleared. But what made our stay truly memorable was Julia, a kind and observant housekeeper we met in passing. She noticed it was my daughter’s birthday — and later came back to gift her $5, explaining someone had left her a tip and she wanted to “gift Kayte what she had been gifted.” That simple, selfless gesture blew me away. What a beautiful moment of kindness from a complete stranger — to a four-year-old, no less.
That experience alone earns this hotel a 5/5 in my book. We’ll definitely be back for another local staycation.
