Great time

They were a bit short staffed and so the home hadn’t been cleaned when we arrived at 4 pm. However, they called in a team quickly when we let them know. The house was cozy, comfortable and in a great location. Loved the screen porch especially!

WEEK AT KILKENNY SANDKASTLE

Despite the weather, our family had a woderful time. The only issue we had, and it was a consistent issue, is that the hot tub kept breaking. This was especially disappointing because we could not go to the beach most days due to the hurricane, so it would have been nice to at least have been able to use the hot tub. We would like to return to this same house next year, but hop e the hot tub issue can be resolved. Otherwise we had a wonderful time. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I've stayed there before, but was not the person who booked it and I liked it so much that I went back to the same house with my family. This house has everything you need! Don't worry if you forgot something because chances are it's already there. The kitchen has every gadget, there are books, movies, puzzles, and games available. The wifi is great for if you have to work, and the hot tub is the best way to relax after a day at the beach which is only a short walk away. WE had 3 generations and everyone had a blast. We will definitely be returning to this house again.

Amazing vacation spot

We were so pleased with our experience at this beautiful OBX house. We loved everything the house had to offer. It was a nice short walk to the beach and a great location to shops and restaurants. The host was so helpful and quick to respond to any questions we had during our stay. We would love to come back again in the future!

Reviewer Comments: We were pleasantly surprised with how clean the house was and how well-stocked it was in terms of kitchen appliances (high end!), tupperware, huge pots, etc. Everything was organized and labeled! The house also had so many books and games. Very short walk to beach access. Two community pools were a bit longer of a walk and very small/nothing very exciting/kind of dated.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were a group of 8 adults and 3 small children. The pluses: the house was clean, the kitchen incredibly well stocked (the owners obviously do a lot of cooking at home), the mattresses are comfortable, there is beach gear but no umbrellas and there are tons of books, games, large screen TV etc to keep you entertained. The downside is a small living room for the number of people the house can accommodate. Having all the adults in the living room after the kids were put to bed meant someone had to use a dining room chair. The deck space on the main upper level was also small, so we couldn't all sit around outside in the evening. If your kids are teenagers, they will love the downstairs playroom and hot tub. With little ones, we didn't use that space at all. Finally, the upper level AC died on the second day and the rental management company sent someone our who installed window units to get us through the night and a repair man showed up at 7AM the next morning to fix the AC. So, big shout out to the rental management folks for their rapid response.

Filthy floors - nice house

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was very nice but was obviously not vacuumed (maybe all summer!). Half eaten sandwich, socks, bottles, potato chips in the middle of the bedroom floor -some of the many disgusting floor finds. Four of us had to spend first morning cleaning since there was a toddler with us putting the "finds" into her mouth. Carolina Shores rentals was informed immediately with pictures. 1 week later there has not even been a "sorry about that". We rent a big house every summer and this was shockingly dirty. Toothpaste splatters on several mirrors, piles of dirt and things under beds (the house vacuum didn't even fit under the beds I had to lay on the ground with a broom to sweep the stuff out. Would not rent from this company again.

Great rental!

Renting this property made the rest of our OBX trip that much more enjoyable. The location was great (easy walk to beach and pool, safe for young kids to be outside) and the house had plenty of space and was extremely well organized.

1252 Home Port Court West

The home was as advertised, very good condition, clean and quiet. A few hundred yard walk to the beach and about a quarter mile from the end of the paved road in Corolla. Close to Historic Corolla Village and a 20 minute drive to Duck Boardwalk. We are already discussing 2022 plans.

Cleanliness matters

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The bad: Check in requires you to go to an office in Duck even though the house has a keypad, very outdated when you can get a text from other companies. The house was not ready til 430 and was visibly dirty, we had to wash all dishes, counters and appliances. Strangely enough Zero toilet paper in any of 5 bathrooms .The hot tub stopped working Monday night so we called Tuesday 1st thing a tech showed up and drained and refilled it. It didn’t work the rest of week and no one returned despite repeated calls. I would not recommend this rental company. The good: The house is updated and is in close proximity to the beach walkway, the rooms are good sized and the second refrigerator is nice to cut down shopping trips. The lighthouse and 4x4 beach are minutes away.The screen porch in the back is nice morning coffee spot. The cabinets are well stocked with dishes and glasses.

Wonderfully equipped kitchen

The kitchen was FULLY equipped. I did all cooking for the 12 of us. This was a well thought out kitchen for the serious cook. Our family was together for the first time in 1 1/2 years. The public areas were large enough for us to congregate. And other decks, porches, provided additional spaces. Bedrooms and baths were lovely. Beach was within walking distance. There was also a pool and workout facilities nearby. The only downside was on Saturday and Sunday allow extra time to get from Duck to Corolla, as the traffic is bad.

We were led to believe there was a private pool but was disappointed to know it was a community pool about 5 minutes from the rental.Of all the homes we have rented in the Outer Banks, this home had the most kitchen gadgets, tools, cookware, etc. We were very happy with the kitchen.The home would be perfect if it had a private pool.Our family enjoyed the getaway.
