  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. I loved staying at this property. It was a short walk from the beach and had privacy despite neighbors near by. Clean and homey feeling.

Great pool. House with potential not realized.

This house has potential that is not realized. A great, well maintained pool with broken poolside furniture (was replaced). Gas grill is rusted out junk. All the bedding needs to be replaced. Have you ever seen a "queen" bed that is a queen mattress set on top of a full mattress and box spring? Cleaning crew needs to do a much better job. Then there's the fridge door that is hinged wrong, hits the wall, and you can't open it completely. This is a good house, although not as clean as it should be, and could be a great house with some effort.

Spindrift

We booked this property months ago. When we got there, the house had not been cleaned. The cleaners were running behind. We were told check-in was at 4:00, but could be as late as 6:00 if the cleaners were running behind. When we were able to get into the house, the kitchen had mouse traps and ant traps/bait on the kitchen counter. Once we went to use the hot tub, we realized only one key was working. We also noticed the railing for the third level balcony was incredibly loose and there were many rusty nails sticking out of the boards. I let the property management company know. They did send someone out for the hot tub. The hot tub is too old to repair, so not much to be done about that. The rusty nails and lose rails were never addressed. Over all-it’s a great property, but those issues definitely would deter me from renting this one again.

Our stay

The house was comfortable. Kitchen was well stocked. It was dusting . The windows were dirty. Main living area has no curtains or blinds so the dirty windows really stuck out. The small screened room was molding.

Worth the money if you are splitting it amongst every room

Negatives: .House was dirty, dusty(vents windows fans). .Loose nails above an inch in height on decking areas .Deck/patio area covered in leaves/sand . Live Oaks/Laurels/Privet have overtaken the driveway. (Rubs vehicles) Positives: .Price matches the quality if split amongst all rooms. .Short distance from public beach (back alley cut through to drink/snack hit was pretty awesome) .Short walk to private beach access (BEST OPTION) .Pool was cleaned j as we arrived (recommendation would be 2x per week) .Overall The place is worth the price of the stay. .Cleanliness was an issue/Not ocean front, but the distance to entertainment and beaches is very nice

A week away

Great location! House is very spacious! Needs a lot of TLC. A majority of the outside chairs were all broke. Screens broke/ripped . Loose deck boards. Living room furniture could use an upgrade. We had kids staying and this created a lot of safety concerns for our party.

Good property needs a little updating

I thought there was plenty of room for the eight of us in the house. The gift basket was nice. I think the property, especially the kitchen, could use a good deep cleaning. Most of the furniture around the pool was broken and should be replaced. I thought the location and proximity to the beach was nice.

Very Disappointed

The house was not cleaned until 9:30 pm. For a 4 pm arrival. The house is beautiful, ,the pool is lovely, great location but the house is not well maintained. Severe squeaking both king beds, mold in shower, dirty kitchen mats, moldy pool furniture, torn / missing screens in screened porch. This is the First time we have had a negative experience after renting VRBO’s for 15 years.
