Was let down by this Riu location. I understand Riu properties are considered on the "budget" side but this was not worth it.
Pros:
Clean, beautiful beach
Staff, all around just great - friendly, helpful, fun.
Cons:
TERRIBLE food. Nothing to ruin your vacation like barely edible buffet food, on half-cleaned plates and cups. Plates always felt oily, even in the clean pile. "Clean" coffee cups often had coffee stains in them or lipstick marks. This alone would make me never return to this property and make me think twice about booking any Riu property ever again.
Limited dinning options, if you're trying to escape the horrific buffet food, you are left with basically one decent restaurant - "Milan". The other two are buffet-like food. "Geisha" being basically the Asian section of the regular buffet.
Rooms: for a newly build hotel, the rooms were underwhelming, with smaller beds that squeak and move the whole night....just not a great experience.
Woken up by an emergency alarm siren in the middle of the might, kept going for 15 minutes with no communication from the hotel as to what happened. Make us all worried about what is going on, Tried to reach front desk to see if the emergency was real or not, and no one would answer.
Found out the day after, after asking staff, it was due to someone smoking in the room. No communication, left people confused and worried at 1 am.
Overall, not sure how this place got a 5 star rating, would give it a 2 at best, 5 for staff.
